Storm vs Widnes  Dragons

On a very early, cold and wet morning, we kicked off a great game at 10 30am!

The starting 8- Gk-Noel, Def-Jack, Def-Ben, Dmf- Cameron (capt), Mid-Joseph, Mid-Jacob, Mid- Callum, Str- Bradley

With us playing 8 a side again and the formation that worked so well last week, we thought we would stick to the same formation and just made one change which was Jack starting in defence ahead of Nathan.

We started the game off, with another superb start to the game from ourselves and an early attack with some good pass and move and a great shot from Jacob just narrowly wide. From the goalkeepers kick off Cameron picked up the loose ball found Jacob who had another long range shot this time well saved by the opposing keeper. The dragons started getting a bit more possession, but another great break from ourselves and a superb cross from Joseph from the left fell straight to Bradley who smashed it into the bottom corner, great goal in the 8^th minute! We took our foot of the pedal and dragons started passing the ball nicely and in the 13^th minute scored a great team goal to level it up.  Straight from our kick off we made a terrible mistake and gave the ball straight to dragons, they ran straight to the corner, had a shot which was superbly saved by noel, dragons then converted from the corner kick just before half time!

Half Time

At half time we made 3 changes, Lewis on in midfield for Callum, Sonny replaced Bradley up front, and Nathan took jacks place in defence.

With the dragons getting play underway and starting the first half the way they ended the first with some fantastic play and a couple of corners going there way and not defended as well as they could and should have been by the Storm. The dragons won another corner in the 5^th minute of the 2^nd half which was a great delivery from there number 7 which hit Jacob and found its way into the back of our net, Dragons started to put more pressure on us and scored a great goal which Noel was unlucky not to get a touch too in the 11^th minute of the half. From the kick off we finally looked brighter and some good passing and moving, we brought Ben and Bradley back on the pitch to replace sonny and lewis, with some shots on goal from Jacob and more great saves from there opposing keeper we just couldn’t find our second goal. We then had a great corner from Bradley, and a scramble in the box with Jacob hitting the post, callum’s shot blocked and josephs saved. We then had another attack this time from the right joseph made a great pass through the defence with callums shot just wide, excellent play from the storm! In the 15^th minute of the goal we found our second goal through Jacob with a great pass from Bradley and Jacob striking it past the goalkeeper superbly. Last 5 minutes we kept piling on the pressure for the Dragons but couldn’t find any more goals.

Full Time

A superb game and well played from both teams, great football and hopefully more games like this to come. The first 10 and last 10 was excellent from the Storm, credit to a great Dragons team.
