Following Dan Palmer's promotion to first team duties, James Hitchcock and Ian Relf took the helm. With the ressies losing the likes of Will and Rob McMenamin and Chris Brenta, new faces arrived in the form of Daniel Hitchcock, Paul Desrosiers, James Dean, Richard Watts and James Farrington, with Zak Attaway and Dave Barden swelling the ranks later in the year. The reserves also welcomed Stewart Read, converted to a centreback after the knee injury picked up the season before, and Paul Abbott took on the captaincy.
A promising start, with consecutive wins away at Raduis and at home to eventual champions Nomads B, saw the ressies briefly take top spot. But injuries to Stewart Read and Si Durham upset that early rhythm and from there it was a long slow slide to last, hindered by a lack of goals and consistency. The only other win came in the cup against Nomads A, and despite picking up 5 draws and finishing with a respectable defensive record, the ressies limped to last place, scoring just 17 goals in 18 league games (even more damningly, after winning 6-2 on the opening day of the season against Radius, the ressies league scoring form was a woeful 11 in 17!) .
There were some highlights though, in Paul Abbott's hat-trick against Nomads A, Sandi's 25-odd yard chip against Radius and Paul Des' volley against Real Mayo. James Farrington scored on his debut with his very first touch, Will Moore continued to improve into one of the best keepers in the league (fortunately for us), and Daniel Hitchcock thoroughly deserved the players' player award that he picked up. Shame about the managers though...
