Some snippets from the Sevenoaks Chronicle and other team websites showing a bit of Ightham FC's history:

  • **The attachment shows the Sevenoaks Chronicle report for Ightham's last peice of silverwear, when they won the Smiths League Cup in 2004/05 - no mention of Si Durham's broken cheekbone!**

  • "New Year's Eve 1977 saw Football League referee Ron Challis take charge of the Sevenoaks Charity Senior Cup-tie between Kent Amateur League opponents Sevenoaks and Borough Green.

Two days later Dunton Green Reserves and Ightham met at Greatness Park in the Smiths Charity Senior Cup Final, and a goalless tie ensued.

A replay took place two weeks later, also at Greatness Park, where a crowd of around 200 saw an Alan Mason goal 11 minutes from time decide the destiny of the silver trophy in favour of Ightham, after another closely fought encounter.

Among some of the well-known names appearing in the tie were Glen Broad, Sid Elliott and Alan Keenes for Ightham, along with keeper Sam Blunt, captain Keith Baigent and Kevin Hart for the Green."

  • "In the 1938-39 season Platt Reserves beat Ightham Reserves 31-1 in a Division 3 league fixture, as far as I know the highest scoring league game on record!"
