About Us
Independiente Football Club were formed in 2002 by Robert Hutchings-Spiller and Daniel Brown and started life in the Sceptre Sunday Football League Division Five and finished in 2009 in the Sceptre Sunday Football League Division Two.
Over those seasons the club finished runners up in Sceptre Sunday Football League Division Four and also runners up in the Division Three & Division Four cups.
From the 2006/07 - 2007/08 season the club also had a second team which was started by Adam Gill-Prosser who later became Canvey Town.
At the end of the 2007/08 season the manager and chairman Robert Hutchings-Spiller left the club and it was taken over by James Payne for one season before he changed the clubs name to Athletico Canvey who then folded at the end of the 2009/10 season.
This coming season 2011/12 season Independiente FC will be back but this time as a Saturday team in the Southend Borough Combination League being reformed by the orginal creater Robert Hutchings-Spiller so watch this space.
