Independiente started out in life as the brain child of Robert Hutchings-Spiller and Daniel Brown, they had both played in the Sceptre league the season before for a team called Dutch Village and were unhappy at the way the club was managed so decided to start there own team so they could do things there way.
In June 2002 Independiente were accepted to the Sceptre Sunday football league and started life in division five and finished a creditable seventh in there first season, the second season went the same way as Independiente again finished seventh in division five.
In June 2004 the club successfully applied to go up to division four despite finishing seventh the previous season, this turned out to be a great season for Independiente as they finished second in the league and came runners up in the Andy Ward cup with Daniel Brown finishing with an incredible 32 goals that season, 4 of which coming in the final game of the season in the promotion clincher against FC Barge which the reds won 6-4.
The first season in division three was a consolidation season for the reds finishing in sixth place and again getting to the Andy Ward cup final losing again to Shoebury Boys and getting to the quarter finals of the Colin Tyler cup losing 1-0 to division two champions Pro Max with John Hegarty finishing with 20 goals for the season doing a great job to replace Daniel Brown who left the previous summer to join Canvey Orient.
The summer of 2006 was a big summer for Independiente as a second team was launched by Robert Hutchings-Spiller and Adam Gill and they would start life in Division seven of the Sceptre Sunday football league, also Daniel Brown returned to the Independiente first team. The season started off brilliantly as the first team won there first four games but injury was to strike the first team with as many as eleven players out at one point turned this into a disappointing season for the first team as they finished sixth in division three. The seconds season started out as a disaster as they lost there first seven games eventually they picked up and finished a creditable ninth place in division seven.
The future of Independiente looks bright with the first team strengthening and looking to have a successful season in division three and the second team longer stronger after there first season and now competing in division five.
