Report

At last....the altzheimers has cleared up and I'm able to bring you another one of my now "infamous" match reports !!!!! None of the "Baldock" bias, "Westmill" waffle or "Bengeo" B**locks....this is TRUE, HONEST reporting at it's best !!!

I had the very proud privilege of taking charge of the team today and can honestly say that it was a PLEASURE !!!!

Frank had a family "do" to attend so it was left to me to sort things out......the boys (mainly) turned up on time and sorted out the net and flags....but "where were the shorts" ???? I knew it was too good to be true....

Anyway, onto the game....

Hertford Heath arrived with obvious confidence - they were playing a team that had previously got their a*ses kicked by Bengeo and have themselves had an unbeaten start to the season. They obviously HADN'T allowed for the fact that very occassionaly the REAL Inter turn up and when we do we can give ANYONE a real game !!!!

We started really well - getting in their faces and not letting them settle. This approach obviously worked because "Heath" were not able to play their usual slick passing game. Then.......disaster - completely against the run of play, "Heath" went 1-0 up.......gutted - all that hard work seemed to have just been for nothing. Numerous chances to equalise came and went UNTIL ........

MR FISK popped up with a quality leveller - a great move down our right ended with a cross into the box and a well dispatched volley into the corner of the "Heath" net - NO MORE THAN WE DESERVED !!!

Half time arrived and I felt more than a little disappointed that I had to give a half time team talk to a team that had TOTALLY dominated but only had a 1-1 scoreline to go with it. Part way through our half time chat I noticed that the "Heath" players and staff were not entirely satisfied with their first half performance......lots of shouting and finger pointing going on - which I pointed out to our players had been brought on by their superb first half display........which I added, would count for nothing unless they reproduced their efforts in the second half.

I needn't have been worried - HOW on earth we didn't win this game i'll NEVER know - the lads put EVERYTING into this performance......guts, determination, quality, heart and effort - all we needed was that bit "extra" to seal a deserved victory. Even their players on the touchline acknowledged the fact that we deserved to win today BUT alas.....we had to settle for a point !!!!

I'm getting VERY tired of saying it boys BUT when YOU really wanna play you are a match for ANYONE in this division. The problem is (and has ALWAYS been) that there aren't enough of you that turn up "week in, week out" to training and Saturdays that would enable us to pick a settled (quality) side like the one that played today.

Joe Capp was MY man of the match today......he ran his BUTT off and did not allow the "Heath" midfield pair any time on the ball.......quality Joe, fantastic performance.

"Splodge" was also outstanding in the centre today - and maybe appreciated the fact that Joe was in there with him working tirelessly, in order that Splodge could push forward looking for that winning goal.

Another player who I thought deserves "special" praise today was "Johnny Hart".....MAGNIFICENT....."No neck" pushed Joe ALL the way for my man of the match today - was superb at right back and gave their left winger NO time to settle.......even had time to do one of his "well timed" (not) sliding tackles that almost resulted in a penalty for the opposition.

Monty, Cheesy, Ang and Peter also deserves enormous credit for limiting their forwards to a couple of "half" chances.......while Guey and Kieran were constant threats down either flank.......and last BUT by no means least.....Ricky and JC......ran their NUTS off for 90 minutes and posed a REAL threat to their defence ALL afternoon.

After a performance like this I feel that the club I love has a very BRIGHT future - the problem is that I think that tere aren't enough people that feel the same way - the RESERVES have already folded....and there is talk that the FIRST team will follow shortly ???? I DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN !!!!!!!!!!

FRANK AND MYSELF WON'T LET THAT HAPPEN......BUT we need YOUR help - turn up to training EVERY week and we wouldn't be in this situation.......think about it boys - you wont think you'll miss INTER F.C until INTER F.C isn't there anymore !!!!
