Invac were determined not to lose a hat-trick of matches to Kilpatrick after the recent 1-0 score lines in the cup final and the league.
Invac started brightly and took the lead inside 10 minutes, Ally Howson pinged a corner to the edge of the 6 yard box and skipper Paul Hunter powered a header past the Killie keeper, 1-0.
Kilpatrick turned things around quickly with 2 goals inside 5 minutes. The first was a free header 6 yards out from a corner and the second was a one-two at the edge of the penalty area that their No.6 curled superbly into the bottom corner, 2-1 Killie.
Invac fought back though and equalised when Paul Hunter slipped in Kev Kerr after a neat team move and he tucked the ball past the keeper just inside the far post, 2-2.
Invac took the lead before half-time, Wullie Robertson fed Kev Kerr down the right hand side and he cut the ball back into the box for Paul Hunter. He swivelled and shifted the ball onto his left foot before curling a fine effort past the keeper from 12 yards, 3-2 Invac at half-time.
Into the 2nd half and Invac extended their advantage. Wullie Robertson turned a defender before playing a defence splitting pass for Nicky Kane to run onto and slot past the Killie keeper, 4-2 Invac.
Kilpatrick hit back soon after. Invac felt their was a foul on Ally Howson in the build up but credit to the Killie striker who hit a perfect volley past McCloy in the Invac goal, 4-3.
Both sides had chances to add to the scoreline but to no avail and it was Invac who held on for the 3 points that sees them clinging to a glimmer of hope at the title.
MATCH SUMMARY: Great 3 points against a really good Kilpatrick side. It's Renfrew Town's title to lose but at least this result keeps the pressure on them for the remaining matches.
