The history of the Club
19 Jan 2010

Inverness City Fc were founded in 2006 to help keep players within the city boundaries as for many years players have had to travel many miles around the Highlands to get a game of football at a competitive level for many years facilities have prevented a new club forming but in 2006 that changed.

Mike Pollard who co-managed with Stevie Graham Dornoch FC in the North Caledonian League in 2005 and brought success to them for the first time in many years were introduced to Dave Siegel, Who worked closely that season with Pollard and Graham and it was in a discussion between the 3 one day that led to them forming a new team in Inverness. Dave being a successful business man in Inverness offered the finance to begin the formation of a team in Inverness and a ground was granted in Inverness at the Bught Stadium after negotiations with the Highland Council, Inverness City FC successfully applied to the North Caledonian League but then had complications with a park when the council refused to lease the Bught Stadium after initially agreeing too. This left the club with a huge problem but after many meetings a solution was found and the club were provided facilities over in North Kessock at Ferry Brae Park, City's first competitive game was to be against Balintore with the game ending all square at 2-2 the debut season provided silverware for the club as they won the Jock Mackay and Football Times Cup. In 2007 the club were unable to match the successes of the debut season by finishing 2nd in the league and finishing runners up in the Jock Mackay Cup.

The North Caledonian League had been successful for City but in 2008 the club successfully applied to the Scottish Junior Football Association to join the North Region in the 2nd Division of the set up. Ground issues reared it's ugly head again through the season as they finally agreed with the council to get use of the Northern Meeting Park however due to existing users having it were not able to play at Home until Mid September. City's 1st game in the Junior set up was at the Ferry Brae Park against RAF Lossiemouth with City recording a 2-1 home victory.

City finally played their 1st competitive game within the City boundaries in a spectacular victory over eventual runaway winners of the 1st Division Buchanhaven Hearts this game was recorded on television by BBC Alba and saw City win 4-3. The very next week City played another historic game for the club by playing in their 1st ever Scottish Junior Cup tie against West Calder United at home, City triumphed again winning 3-1 in front of a large home crowd. The highs of these games were followed by a few lows on and off the park as City went on a poor run of form on the park the club went into talks with the Council over the park but negotiations proved fruitless, The club turned their poor season around by going on a long unbeaten run over several months but the success on the park didn't help of it and were homeless as the Council were unable to facilitate the club in Inverness for the remainder of the season, City went on the road playing Home games at Burghead and Nairn but the nightmare of the park didn't deter the team and on the last day of the league campaign City snatched the League title beating Fochabers 2-0 through at Nairn St Ninians Showfield Park and then a week later won the Elginshire Cup beating Bishopmill 3-0 at Forres Thistles Logie Park to cap a remarkable season for the Highland Capital side.

Inverness City were promoted for 2009-10 to the North Regions Division 1 along with New Elgin, Deveronside and Bishopmill. The dream goes on!!!!
