Report

On a belated return to the Comm, Eagles thumped bottom of the table Earls Barton comprehensively 10-2. For only the second time of the season, Roberts had 16 players at his disposal, and made one change from the side that drew at Volta with Thorley coming in for Sutton. Tactics were changed, and Birkitt partnered Ali up front, with De Rosa in midfield and Kineton starting on the left hand side.

It didn't take long for the opener just 1 minute in, and Kineton flicked on for ISA ALI to tap home for 1-0. But the lead wasn't very long lived, and just 2 minutes in Earls Barton fired home a free kick to restore parity. But 10 minutes later, WILL PATRICK was on head to smash home Birkitts' corner and put Ise back in front. BIRKITT then turned from provider to scorer, after being fouled he stepped up from 25 yards out and curled home the third brilliantly to strengthen the advantage. Things just got better and better in the first half, with TOBY ROBINSON smashing home his first goal for the club, and ALI completed his hat-trick just before half time with 2 more neat goals. Half time 6-1.

Eagles came out looking for more goals, and just 2 minutes into the second period, DAN EVANS tapped home a rare goal to make it 7-1 and finish it as a contest. There was another consolation for the away side, just 9 minutes later, but with all the subs coming on it was JAMES SUTTON who made it 8-2 and restored the 6 goal lead. Earls Barton managed to hold out until 5 minutes before the end, SHAUN THORLEY scored his second corner of the season, and ISA ALI finished the scoring with a mazy run and stunning strike from the edge of the box which struck the post and went home. Final Score 10-2.

A comfortable victory, and 3 more points. Promotion remains unlikely now, but Eagles will carry on fighting with 4 key games to come. MOM went to the hat-trick man Isa Ali who scored his second 4 goal haul for the club after his 5 against Glen Villa 3 years ago.
