A great result for Eagles against top of the table Rushden & Higham United. With Thorley missing, gaffer Jem Roberts brought Patrick back in the starting XI with Birkitt moving to the left wing and Buckle back to left back.
Eagles started brightly with Kineton blazing over on 4 minutes. It took just 12 minutes for Eagles to get the breakthrough with an outstanding backheel from skipper Lewis, and MOZZA ROBERTS cross' took a looping deflection and dipped under the crossbar for 1-0. With more good football for Eagles, the second came on 30 minutes a corner from the influental Lewis was flicked on and found JOSH DOUGLAS who smacked home the ball to put Eagles ahead by two goals at half-time.
With R&H bringing off their most dangerous man, Eagles came out and continued to threaten and Douglas headed wide from another Lewis corner. But just 4 minutes later Dan Evans long ball was met by BRAD KINETON who lobbed the keeper expertly for 3-0 and seal all 3 points for the home side.
With no real danger coming in the second period from Rushden & Higham, Eagles held on for all 3 points and a fantastic victory. With Birkitt starting his 5 week suspension next week and captain Lewis away next weekend Eagles have a tough job on their hands away at Desborough; a familiar venue for Eagles having played there over 5 times.
