The .net's first game was in response to a challenge on the PTFC.net messageboard, from some of the posters over at The Harry Wraggs, who had formed an internet based Thistle supporters club. Originally a 5 a side game was arranged but due to the response this soon became 11-a-side and on the 27th of July 2003 at the Firhill complex, PTFC.net FC were to play out their first match which ended in a 5-4 victory.
A rematch was organised around a month later and this ended in an emphatic 8-4 victory.
t the close of 2003-04, the committee took time to reflect upon the season which had just passed and look forward to the following year. It was always difficult to find new opposition and away fixtures were almost non-existant so to sort this the decision was made to try and join an organised league and in August 2004, PTFC.net officially added AFC to their title as they became Associate Members of the Scottish Supporters League. This was a massive moment and step for the club which was testament to the organisation and set up which had been put in place by the committee.
During a tough closed season, a number of new faces were brought into the team, mainly from our old rivals at THW, to help add to the squad for what would be a long and difficult sesaon. In their first competitive match, the .nets ran out 5-2 victors against Queens Park Spiders at Scotstoun Leisure Centre in the inter divisional cup, with the first point of the league campaign recorded against Cadzow Hamilton, who would finish the season in second place to Clyde. The season was one of many highs and lows with the team finishing second bottom, although 5 points ahead of bottom placed team Well Trust and 7 points from newly promoted Cadzow.
A number of major changes happened to the playing staff during the season with previous top scorer Mark Warrington deciding to leave the club in October 2004. Player of the year James Murray was also to leave in November 2004 to travel for a year with both Scott Grant and Martin Dempsey being forced to retire from the game due to injury. With Paddy Kelly seeking pastures new in February 2005, no fewer than 5 regulars from the previous season were now absent from the squad. The subsequent re-shuffle and introduction of new players meant that the squad finished its first season with a totally different team to that which started.
The first competitive season officially ended on 25 June 2005 with the now legendary Inverness Weekend. The long journey North saw the .net's win against strong highland opposition in a good spirited game with the spirits continuing long into the night as the team celebrated a long hard season. Hats were the theme of this trip and the range and lack of taste in virtually all of them was impressive!
Season 2005 - 2007
less said the better!
players and managers came and went and it was left to the dynamic Duo of Big Bad Rab Grant and Pete Le Jakey Condron to take over the running of the team. the team spirit came back and the results got better.
after a poor start to the league campaign Pete Le Jakey stepped a side and the MESSIAH Paddy Kelly took over. The rest is history. The longest unbeaten run in the clubs history and a record score of 9-2 against Falkirk. were the highlights of a good end to the season under the irishmans guidance
