Sunday saw our 1st competitive match as Kempton Girls F.C. when we visited Premier Division side  and, future opponents Fleet Town Girls for a friendly.

Fleet look likely to finish 3rd in the Premier Division so it was going to be an interesting test for us.

Today's squad consisted of Lucy, Lizzie, Jess, Nicole C, Lillie, Georgie, Emily B, Emily C, Molly, Chloe S, Paige and Kierans' daughter Emily who kindly helped us out at the last minute after the late withdrawl of one or two players, along with Anthea who will be joining us next season.

The match started a little scrappy but gradually both sides settled down and on 7 mins Fleet took the lead after a defensive mix up set up the Fleet forward to shot home into the bottom corner.

The girls bounced back quickly and began to play some really good football and in the space of 2 minutes Emily C and Anthea both had shots on goal gathered by the Fleet goalie. Some of our link up play was a pleasure to watch, with Molly and Emily C attacking down both wings whilst up front both Chloe and Anthea were causing the Fleet defence all kinds of problems.
At the other end Jess, Lillie, Nicole and Lizzie dealt comfortably with any Fleet attacks and even when they broke beyond our defence the reliable Lucy was there to sweep up.
Emily B and Georgie worked hard in the centre of midfield as we continued to have the better of the 1st half but were just unable to find the back of the net.

Half-time 1-0.

We went straight onto the attack in the 2nd half and dominated play..
We had made a few changes with Georgie now on the right hand side of midfield and Anthea dropping into central midfield along side Emily B.. We also had Emily M playing alongside Jess in the centre of defence and Paige at right back. Both Emily and Paige put in excellent performances.
Again we attacked in style down the wings with Molly and Nicole on the left and Georgie down the right proving diffIcult to contain and through the middle Anthea looking very strong. 
We forced numerous corners and created a whole stack of chances but the Fleet goalie was like a magnet to the ball and somehow she managed to get feet and legs in the way of shots from Anthea, Emily B & Georgie whilst Molly shot just wide and Nicole had a shot saved. 
Chloe had a shot cleared off the line but finally midway through the half the ball finally fell to Chloe 12 yards out and she managed to slot home the equaliser.

The Fleet attacks were rare and apart from one occasion when they went close the defence and Lucy held firm..Paige produced a great moment when she won a tackle and then went on a mazy run before cooly passing the ball to Emily B.

We continued to attack and probe looking for the second goal and Lillie Elsbury went close with an audacious over head kick. As hard as we tried the Fleet defence gamely managed to somehow prevent us scoring again.

In the final minute a rare Fleet attack saw them score a very late and underserved winner as a result of a defensive mix up and lucky bounce.

Full time 2-1.

Great performance and very unluckly not to come away with a win..It was an entertaining match and clearly we will be a match for any team in the top division next season.
