Well played well today in truly awful conditions. I thought the team stuck to tactics really well and we managed to play some good through balls to put them under pressure. We also passed the ball around well at times in difficult conditions. Overall it was a fairly even match but I thought we were the stronger team and a great solo goal earned Wellesbourne a point.
We have finished the season strongly and I think all players have come a long way since we played Wellesbourne in the first game of the season.
The first half of the season we competed with most teams, but let ourselves down by giving away one or two soft goals. We worked really hard as a team to iron out these problems. I think the turning point in the season for us was the away match against Warwick on 29th January. If you look at our league results since then you will see that we have played 9 and lost just 2. Also we have scored 20 goals with 14 against.
The stats from 29/01 look like this: P9 W2 D5 L2 F20 A14 Pts 11.
Of course not forgetting the cup run. P3 W3 F10 A1
So you can see we have tightened up defensively considerably so well done to the team, especially the back 5 who have been tremendous lately.
We have played some positive attacking football all season so well done to the team for this as well.
I for one am already excited by next season if we continue to improve at the same rate as this one.
Great work everyone.
