Running since 1994 and still going strong

Established in 1994, the club was originally known as Kent Magpies of Blackheath. Over the years, the club has re-located to various grounds within the South East London area, but has to date always played within the boundaries of the London Borough of Greenwich.

In November 2005 we were awarded FA Charter Standard which was renewed for a further three year period in 2008.

Kent Magpies Ladies FC were based for many years at Poly Sports, Kidbrooke Lane SE9 but due to circumstances out of our control had to move at the end of the 2006/07 season. However after starting the 2007/08 season elsewhere we were given the opportunity to return to our beloved Poly Sports, now known as The Club at Well Hall.

Blackheath Rugby Club now run the ground and we are grateful to them for their hospitality in allowing us to use the excellent facilities both for our Friday evening training and Sunday afternoon matches.

Initially the club attracted players from the Blackheath and Lewisham area but as we grew in size and reputation, we now enjoy players from all different areas of London and Kent. Over the years Kent Magpies Ladies Football Club fielded both junior and adult teams competing in either the Kent or London leagues. A decision was made in 2007 to separate the junior and senior sections and the present club now concentrates solely on Adult football for over 16s.

Whilst playing for Kent Magpies, many of our players have also participated in Schools of Excellence football. Other talented girls have gone on to play for Arsenal, Charlton, Chelsea, and Millwall to name but a few. Kent Magpies can also boast that several of their players have progressed through the ranks of football to attain England recognition. We also have players from the present team that are regularly called up to play for the representative team of the London FA.

We have received funding and sponsorships over the years from numerous local businesses, Jack Petchey Acheiver Awards, The London Borough of Greenwich and Awards for All Lottery Association. Our kit sponsors for 2010/11 are Axis Elevators Ltd and Elevate Building Services. Additional Sponsors are always welcome.

The club now operates an adult team (over 16s only) competing in the London & South East Regional Division 1 (London). We have a playing squad of approximately 20. The last two seasons have seen the team finish 3rd, an excellent achievement in what is a very competitive division and reach the quarter final of the London Senior Cup only to be beaten by National Premier side Millwall Lionesses on both occasions.
