Last Match report, last game of the season, last game at 9 v 9 & we could not have picked a more miserable night of weather to play, the rain had come down yet again soaking everyone before kick off, the pitch was heavy could the teams put on a good display.
Juniors were with out the prolific Mason for tonight’s fixture due to a head injury (street football, I remember it well!!) the first game he has missed all season.
The 1st half we were to see plenty of fine football played from both sides, Juniors were creating the better chances, with near misses and a very much inform Bewdley keeper keeping the score at 0 –0. Bewdley were certainly up for this game and were continually looking to hit Juniors on the counter attack, juniors were mopping these threats up well at the back giving Jim plenty of protection.
With the scoreline at stalemate Juniors it was important to not let Bewdley take the lead & for us to bury 1 of our many chances that were bound to come along.
The 2nd half was to be much the same as the 1st , plenty of good football being played with Juniors looking relaxed in their approach to the game. Juniors were to have to wait until the 48th minute to get their noses in front. Kai had picked up play on the right wing, powered forward into the penalty box battling through 2 challenges, he looked up and hit his shot with real venom from an acute angle into the roof of the net, keeper got his hand to it but could not keep it out. 0 –1 to Juniors.
Juniors were now piling on the pressure & on 54 mins extended their lead, after missing a chance a few mins earlier Harry picked up the loose ball in the box; he took a hard challenge on his right shin but stayed on his feet, after re-adjusting his body shape he hit a low left footed shot into the bottom corner of the net. 0 – 2 Juniors
On 57 mins goal of the game to make it 0 – 3, Juniors were awarded a throw-in just on the half way line left hand side, Mattie took the throw finding Jack, Jack shielded the ball under a challenge turned inside and laid the ball to Harry. Harry was on his way and crossed a lovely ball into the box which was met by the sweet left foot of Josh who made no mistake leaving the keeper with no chance, great goal.
The game ended at 0 – 3 to Juniors but real credit to Bewdley who made this a real difficult match for Juniors to claim.
Final score. 0 – 3
Man of Match –Jack –back to his best in recent weeks & showed it with an energetic skilful performance tonight. Jack was unlucky not to be on the score sheet after breaking through on several occasions, great last game of the season for him. Well Done.
Conclusion:
Experience will tell you that night matches are so different to our normal Sunday afternoon fixtures. So it was always going to be interesting to see how Juniors would compete in this match, they did not disappoint. Yes the tempo was slower than normal but we expected that, the football on display was top notch; Juniors really are moving the ball well now. The Management along with the boys have been working hard all season to get to their target of producing high standards of passing football they had set themselves at the beginning of the campaign. The fact we have all been able to achieve this target gives us the greatest satisfaction.
Well Done boys.
