Excellent game tonight - played with pace, passion and fantastic finishing despite the calibre of the opposition. Hope everyone enjoyed the game tonight as i definitely did. Some great performances wullie, owen, rhys, declan, demetre to name but a few. Great goals and even greater misses as well but full of excitement for both teams. Bring on Sunday and hopefully a great performance, goals and anotherthree points.
The U11 and U12 Teams held their Christmas party at Soccer Circus within Xscape at Braehead and a great time was had by all ( including the coaches)
The teams met at 12md and then they had a fun activity session/ coaching session in teams facilitated by the staff within the Soccer Circus ( No Kevin Keegan though). The teams were put through their paces and eventually an alternative penalty shootout was won by new boy Barry Douglas.
After this the team of 3 and 4 players were treated to a feast of interactive electronic accuracy and spedd testing that enthralled all the players involved. This culminated in a fantastic team mannequin contest that the players all loved ( so did the coaches). The did this twice and were truly exhausted before they went to their own hospitality sweet and were treated to as much chicken strips, onion rings, fries and juice that theri bodies could hold. Some ate more than others and watching the Rangers v Dundee United game was a bonus.
After this the players got some prizes which included the Elves winning the overall team game and gettinjg mini footballs each and a large footie for Barry D. The final event was a club power shot competition which was a tight and nail biting affair with Aidan Shearer ( U11 ) holding the lead for most of the competition but not to be outdone O Scott( U12) matched his score of 41.1 mph and Declan Smith beating both with a great score of 41.4 MPH to win. it was close and well done to all the players who attended the party.
Everyone seems to enjoy themselves and we hope that all the players/ parents/ and relatives and friends of Kilmaurs Thistle have a fantastic Christmas and a great New Year.
The Sports quiz at the Powerleague took place on the 8th November with seven teams entering on the night. The quiz was a roaring success but the questions stumped most the teams and the winning team won by the smallest margin, winning £40 and the second place team £15.
A large raffle was drawn near the end of the evening with lots of fantastic prizes donated by the parents of the players and coaches.
In the end the evening made £200 for the club itself and with a very small turnout this was an excellent total. Many thanks to all who attended and handed in a raffle prize for the evening.
