A few are still able to play in the occasional Vets match although there are rumours that Ryland is still playing rugby!! Dogend is still defending the nation, not quite sure how. Mike Beard just gets older but is still up for a laugh. Nick was a gamekeeper turned poacher and took up the whistle.
This was the crew that kicked of the clubs annual tours and Beardy has a photographic record of the capers that occured.
The Club:
We are a friendly club, who play to win, but don't let defeat ruin our lives.
We have been established since 1955 and our continued success has been due to the fact that we seem to attract players who become very loyal to the club and are prepared to do a little bit more than just play football.
We have players from all over Gloucestershire, from Tewkesbury, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Cirencester and North Bristol.
This year we have gone International with players from Poland and Australia.
Clealy our fame is spreading!!!
You can describe us as a nomadic side as we originated from The Kings School in Gloucester. We do not have any natural base such as a village, sports club or works team.
We are happy to encourage young players to join and we try are best to ensure that they develope their talents within the rules and spirit of the game.
We also welcome players who cannot play every week (this is often a significant help to the managers.)
We have enjoyed success in the past with promotion and appearances in the semi finals and finals of cup competitions.
Season 2006/7 the 1st team finished 8th in Cheltenham Division 1.
The Reserve team finished 5th in Division 4.
However we do have a social side to the club and arrange events to enable players from both teams to share time together. Tours, Greyhound Racing, Golf competition's, Quiz's, Curry nights, Darts and Skittles competitions are some that we have arranged in the last few years.
Training starts at the beginning of July and takes place at Plock Court, start time normally 7pm on a Wednesday evening, so if you want to join in then please just turn up. Look for the old man with a Kings FC top!!
During the season training takes place between 8.30pm - 9.30pm at the Dome Bentham.
We do play in 5 a side competitions and do some training through the summer as we like to bring new players into the club well before pre season training starts to help the settling in process. So don't delay get in touch.
