This season the first team lead Division 1 for most of the season. The broken ankle sustained by Paul Scales whilst playing for his Sunday team was a particular blow to manager Steve Reid's plans.
The team were knocked out of the Senior Charities Cup in a penalty shoot out at their old aversaries Northway from Division 2, and in some respects this enabled them concentrate on the league.
For the majority of the season they were on the top and playing really well. Defeat was a word not used during the first half of the season. Unfortunately the eventual withdrawal of Broadway from the league saw them lose 6 points and a significant drop in goals scored.
The second half of the season, saw a number of slip up against teams that they should not have dropped points against and the team were eventually caught and overtaken by Real Whaddon, Charlton Rovers and Falcons.
It was unfortunate but during this critical period manager Steve Reid was admitted to hospital for tests and Assistant Manager Si Godwin was undergoing treatment for cancer.
This dashed any hope of gaining a place in the Gloucester Northern Senior League for the comming season, but this has to be the main target for 2012-13.
At the end of the season Simon Dempster, the first team captain also suffered a broken ankle, so life was not easy in the last couple of games.
There was certainly a much better response to the training this season and this would account for the better performances of the first team.
The team now have to look forward and plan for next seasons campaign and with one or two players in the Reserves looking to break into the squad, it means that some players will have to stay on their toes.
