CLUB HISTORY.

Kingshurst Sporting Club FC as it is currently known was formed in 1981 by a group of locally Parishioners who identified both the need for such an outlet for the local children and the potential that the Pavilions facility held for such a Club. The original name was Kingshurst Sports FC and the Club crest was designed by using the Oak tree that has always stood at the entrance to the facility. The club was originally made up of boys teams from U10's to U16's and have played in the Birmingham Boys League, Castle Vale League and even as far as the Lichfield League. The Club prospered with the development of the facility that went from a one room Cricket Pavilion to the Social Club facility that the Parish Council ran.
In year 2000 the Pavilion Club was closed due to Health and Safety precautions within the building. This signified the darkest period in our history; teams found it difficulty to survive financially without the club to run from and they began to leave. The Club went down to two teams with only Dave Hall and Steve Cresser's teams surviving, two recently formed teams from a Club called Beau's Terriers FC started to use the facility also.
In October 2001The Pavilions was then sold to a Private Company who then developed the Club to its current condition, they also introduced a new Team to the facility called Romulus FC with a plan to try and build and house a Stadium for their Semi professional football team. After several failed attempts to get planning permission Romulus left Kingshurst for pastures new leaving just two Kingshurst and two Beau's Terriers teams using the pitches.
It was at this time both Dot Hayward and Gary Leake approached both the Kingshurst Sporting and Beau's Terriers representatives about creating a structure and one club to run from the Pavilions. That was the beginning of the re-building of our Club, Alison O'Connell bought a Ladies team to join us, John Gallagher bought his two Mini Soccer teams to join us and the foundations were laid.
With the guidance and support of Alison with her contacts at the BCFA we then set about using the Charter Standard structured approach and put in place the Committee, new teams continued to join Kingshurst as we developed the infrastructure of the Club. In 2003 there were 13 teams playing at Kingshurst under various Club names, it was at this point all the teams were asked if they would like to all play under one name. The vote was unanimous and Kingshurst Sporting Club FC was the name agreed by all teams.
In 2004 the Club were awarded Charter Standard Development Club status a land mark achievement for any Club and the teams kept coming, by 2005 there were 15 teams, 2006 17 teams.
In 2006 with the Club celebrating their 25 year anniversary they started to make significant steps towards their target of Charter Standard Community Club status when the Saturday Soccer Schools were set up by John Gallagher the Boys Football Development Officer. Children from all areas and all Clubs had an opportunity to take advantage of the coaching from our club to develop their skills, John extended the Soccer Schools to the School holiday Camps. These Schools and Camps became a great attraction to all children and improved the Clubs recruitment for both current and new teams. John gained great recognition from this work and was awarded the Midlands Coach of the year in 2007, he also gained recognition with his employment by the local Council to coach in the local schools. While all this was developing the Girls section of the club was increasing in numbers with Alison introducing new age groups to the Club.
In 2007 Kingshurst Sporting Club achieved Community Charter Standard status the pinnacle of the Clubs long history, a massive reward to the entire membership of the Club for their hard work.
Kingshurst Sporting Club FC. Continues to offer a facility and resource for the children of Kingshurst and surrounding areas, they are fortunate to have great links and support from local businesses such as Solihull Community Housing, Alcoa, PB Sports and Aristocrat Trophies. They are working with local Councils and Council projects such as the Youth Democracy Team, Fusion and Positive futures. The link with BCFA grows daily, with our interaction, coaching courses and seminars being held at the Pavilions.
May 11th 2009 Kingshurst Sporting Club FC. were chosen to facilitate a Community Charter Standard training event in front of the FA President Prince William, Sir Trevor Brooking, England and Aston Villa star Ashley Young, The Lord Mayor of Solihull and several other dignitaries from the FA, BCFA and local representatives who support our Club.
