The conditions in the first half made playing good football very difficult. The first chance fell to Korat when a cross from Jagkree Burapha found Watcharapong's head - the keeper was equal to the effort though.
Korat took the lead on 12 minutes. A long ball from Etoundi found Prompong on the right of the penalty box; his first-time volleyed cross was tapped in, a little untidily, by Marcel: his first goal for the club.
Neither team was able to dominate owing to the conditions, but Sakon were having slightly the better of the play. Both teams had to play long-ball football, but one good move on 29 minutes nearly produced a goal for the visitors. Watcharapong picked the ball up in midfield and went on a run. He beat a defender on the left and put a cross in for Prompong. However, the number 39's header was weak and easily saved by the keeper.
Prasit tipped a 30-yard free kick over the bar on 38 minutes and Prompong had another chance on 44 minutes, but his effort from a Nuttawat cross was again saved by the Sakon goalie. 1-0 to Korat at halftime.
In the 60th minute, play had to be stopped owing to floodlight failure. The problem was sorted after about fifteen minutes and play resumed. By the 70th minue, play was nearly impossible for both teams. Sakon had a final chance in the 83rd minute but Prasit came to Korat's rescue.
