How the club started...

Lea Valley Royals F.C. was founded in 1981-82 as "Ponders End Tigers" by present chairman Sam Turone and a few friends. The club joined Division Four of the Mercury Waltham Football League and with Sam Turon as player-manager finished third on Four and League Junior Cup as well as finishing Runners-Up in the Anglo-Italian Cup (losing 1-0 at Tooting & Mitcham'Ground).

Due to this sucess the club quickly grew and soon had three teams in the league. However following a few disagreements, two of the teams changed their name and became Lea Valley Royals and the other went its separate way. In the 1984-85 season,Lea Valley Royals won Junior Division One and were Runners-Up in the Intermediate version of the County Cup.

The club continued between 1986 and 1997 with limited success and was eventually reduced to just one team which struggled for a few seasons in the mid-nineties.
However by 1998,the sons of the original club members were old enough to play for the team and the club began to grow once more and in 2000 a reserve team was entered. This growth also co-incided with a influx of quality 'First Team'players from Hoddesdon, and it was not long before Lea Valley Royals were once again amongst the Silverware with first team winning division 2 in 2001-2002. The following year the same team came unlucky second in Division one thus gaining promotion to the Premier Division. This team is now a solid member of the Premier Division and was a beaten finalist in 2005-06 season league showpiece the Roy Bailey Challenge Cup.

The Reserve Team began struggle for players in the 2004-05 season but during the summer of the 2005,a number of Portuguese Players joined the team and things have steadily improved.

Season 2006-2007 has begun well and the team is hoping to gain Promotion from Division 5.
