Plenty of Goals ... and a Strong Finish

Head Coach's Review of the Season:

When I took on the job as Head Coach I didn’t know what I was letting myself in for but I can honestly say that I have really enjoyed being part of it all.

Firstly, I would like thank Stuart and Tom for all their efforts in helping out at training and on match days, greatly appreciated. We have had a mixed season results wise, starting off fairly well in August with close games against Milngavie and Grahamston, which we unfortunately lost despite hitting the bar three times against Milngavie and a good win against Carbrain. September saw us suffer a couple of heavy defeats to Milton and Kildrum Thistle (the eventual League winners). Similar up and down results followed throughout October and November with a couple of good cup wins against JBM and Blairhill. The big freeze managed to stop us playing any football for around 7 weeks with our next game being an agonising loss on penalties in a real rollercoaster of a game against FC Thistle. A spell of games against all the top sides saw a run of defeats but we were at least defending much better and managed to stop the flow of goals against us defending particularly well against Milton.

We finished the season with a run of five straight victories which enabled us to secure a respectable mid-table finish and also the fourth highest scorers in the League . We have definitely improved as the season has progressed, with all of the boys working hard in whatever position they are asked to play in, even though they all want to be strikers!

With our move into the new League, we will be working even harder on tactics and fitness and hopefully we can carry on from where we left off last season.

As I have previously said, we have a great bunch of boys and parents and hopefully next season we can get the results that we deserve.

Cheers

Mark
