Report

In truth the result pretty much says it all with two evenly matched sides with their league table positions and points being much identical in mid-table. Therefore the main prize in this match was taking home all the points. Although the game started at a frenetic pace any hopes of this being a classic never really arrived. Perhaps the  highlights from the first half was the glorious sunshine and the constant dialogue from opposing dugout areas. Maybe on chances, the home side might have gone in at the break in front? However Rilwan Anibaba was having none of that pulling out a couple of spectacular saves in keeping his goal intact. In saying that Devere Stewart put in a very good shift after returning from a lengthy layoff for the away side and did look the most threatening player for Lewisham in the first half.

Following the restart the game flowed end to end with Lewisham’s Marvin Alebiosu seemingly pulling their strings from mid-field but far too often things broke down for them with a combination over-hit through balls and at times the over exuberance of the front runners in good scoring positions. Equally Bearsted proved to be no more effective with only the tricky runs of Jimmy Humphris and Cornwell’s continued enthusiasm really being worth a mention. Striker Kemo Darboe for Lewisham filled in for the last 35 minutes at centre back for the injured Harry Stacey and did a very good job as the match petered out into a very tame no score draw with both sides remaining on 37 points.
