U10’s Thunder competed well in the League and Cup last year, finishing mid-table in the League and narrowly missing out on a semi-final place in the Cup to a fluke last minute goal. In the latter half of the season the team showed tremendous development and in the last third showed promotion form, only narrowly losing two of the last seven league and friendly matches. The team’s a tight knit group of enthusiastic players, who regularly confound the coaching staff with their individual talent, team play and ‘never-say-die’ attitude.
Our objectives for 2007/2008 are:
¨ PLAYER DEVELOPMENT - develop space awareness, positional awareness, ball skills and teamwork;
¨ LEAGUE - finish higher in league than 2006/2007 – improve on win, draw, loss ratio; and
¨ PLAYER DEVELOPMENT – develop at least 3 players to a level where they could challenge (if they chose) for a regular place in the U10 Lightning team.
All the players are looking forward to the pre-season and the forthcoming league, cup and tournament programme. With recent form & development the seasons ahead look promising and with our excellent team spirit, and current crop of talented players, we’re hopeful that this season will be a ‘big one’!
