A Summary of the founding of Maltby Juniors Football Club
( Maltby Sheppy Juniors )

In 1986 a school team from Maltby Manor School in that summer moved up to the cubs scouts at the Bede church on Salisbury road. The Cub team was highly successful in first year and was sadly disbanded.

The disbanded team drifted apart, with one or two of the boys going to the Throstles, Sheffield United and Brampton football teams. However the boys coming from Maltby found themselves used mainly as subs.

In the summer of 1987, Pete Stevenson and Mick Richardson took their sons to Wickersley for trials, but they were not picked, so they tried Brampton that same day but were still unlucky.

The two men thought the only way forward was to form a team in Maltby solely for Maltby boys.

They later contacted some of the parents of the boys from the old cub team, namely; John Clark, Nigel Burton. Ken Taylor and Paul Brookes.

The meeting was arranged and held one night in the “Sheppy” and the idea was put to the men invited.

The committee was formed.
