In 2006 Mardy AFC had one of their best season to date holding the top spot on the Gwent County Division 1 for the majority of the season. A loss to Aberbargoed Buds though upset the chances of going to Welsh League as Buds went on to get promotion. During this game keeper Tom Indge was badly injured and missed the rest of the season. Mardy then had Adam White in between the posts for the rest of the season. Mardy made it all the way to the Amateur Cup final but narrowly lost to Abertillery Bluebirds who went on to also win Gwent County Division 2 to complete the double.
