Margate U10's lined up for the quarter final of the cup against Canterbury Eagles on a beautiful spring like day. A strong Margate side started well and the game was quickly flowing from end to end. Solid handling from 'keeper Ben Marshall and the usual solid no nonsense defensive partnership of Joshua Moody and Tom Wells allowed Margate to focus on attacking and they soon took the lead with a cool finish from Ryan Eames with his 'weaker' right foot. Margates midfield took control of the game and Henry Pitchard quickly doubled Gates lead. The 2nd half saw Margate continue to play some really nice controlled passing football and they went 3 nil up thanks to a long range lob by Moody. The battling Canterbury Eagles pulled a goal back and were pushing for a second but Margate remained strong and were being driven on by Man of The Match Josh Joyner. The Blues eventually got a deserved 4th thanks to a clever header by Farzad Haidary and this was to be the goal that sealed a really good 4-1 victory to Margate who now have a semi final to look forward to.
