Connor Peacock on as a substitute then used his strength the force his way past the last man and make it 3 ; 0 to the Hawks a ball laid down the line by Swale and crossed by Maslauskas-Nicholson saw Kimpton make it 4, Maslauskas-Nicholson then claimed a goal for himself after a neat through ball from Rayson. Miles then claimed a goal to reward all his hard work, before Maslauskas-Nicholson grabbed a second, Kimpton was then felled in the box and Musgrave stepped forward to claim the penalty taken in some style with the ball smashed past a despairing keeper to round the game off in style at 15 ; 0 to a Hawks team continuing to enjoy the season with an incredible 76 goals in only 6 matches.

The Hawks continued to probe and only a couple of fine saves denied them a fourth as they closed the match out at 3 : 0 , giving the Hawks a fine victory.

As Darley came back at the Hawks Price, Giles and Frazer combined to bring the ball clear as half time arrived.

Then a move to grace any game as Webster unleashed a kick to half way allowing Rayson to run at and beat the last man before placing the ball into the corner to make it 3 : 0 to a Hawks side by now well in control. HOLMEWOOD & HEATH UNDER 11’S 1 MATLOCK HAWKS 1 UNDER 11’S

MATLOCK HAWKS WIN AET AND PENALTIES

On a pitch heavy after the weeks rain and with a strong wind blowing across ways, the Hawks lined up against opposition from a higher division and set off at a pace showing they meant business.

From kick off play was taken to Holmewood as first Levi Maslauskas-Nicholson and then Stevie Vaughan tested the keeper and found a player on top of his game who stood out as the best Holmewood player and proved a thorn in the Hawks sides all match. As the ball was played up field the Hawks back four of Oliver Swale, Josh Townsend, Aiden Frazer and Jake Price all stood firm meaning that Joe Webster in goals remained a virtual spectator for long periods, the back four provided the assurance for the midfield to take control as Keelan Graney spread the ball wide allowing first Callum Musgrave to take on his man before setting up Scott Smith to hammer the ball goal wards only to see another fine save. A long kick up field saw Kyran Giles head the ball straight back into the danger zone and Maslauskas-Nicholson again thwarted. The ball fired straight back up the pitch took a deflection allowing holmewood there first corner of the match and a glancing header saw the score go to 1 : 0 to Holmewood totally against the run of play. The Hawks not a team to let there heads go down responded in style as a pass from kick off saw Swale release Vaughan who played a quick ball out wide to Musgrave to test the keeper, the subsequent ball out was collected by Townsend who set up Giles to go on a weaving run before going out wide on the left cutting in and beating the keeper at the near post to make it 1 : 1 as half time approached.

The second half saw fresh legs in the shape of Callum Boam and Liam Fairbrother added and more of the same with Webster only called upon once to stifle a shot before starting the next attack with his quick kick up field and from the resulting corner Smiths goal bound volley was again saved as a goal seamed certain. The second half continued in the same vane with the Hawks camped in the Holmewood half but a goal would not come and so into extra time and more of the same as the Hawks rained shots in on a keeper on a mission to keep his team in the cup. A shut out in extra time saw the dreaded penalty shoot out with both keepers putting in excellent performances as Webster saved four out of five whilst Vaughan scored for the hawks and with the scores level at 1 penalty scored by each team the final penalty fell to Oliver Swale who unleashed an unstoppable left foot shot into the net giving the hawks a deserved win.

Man of the match went to Swale for steadfast defending and wing play along with a thunderbolt of a penalty.

Tansley Under 11’s 2 vs Matlock Hawks Under 11’s 5

Following an unbeaten run in October the Hawks faced a stern test at Tansley as a heavy pitch and driving rain conspired to tire young legs.

The Hawks lined up with a back four of Jacob Poole, Aiden Frazer, Josh Townsend and Jake Price providing cover for Joe Webster in goals. However it was the midfield where the game was needed to be won with William Rayson and Levi Maslauskas-Nicholson both taking strong early possession backed up with superb flank play by Oliver Swale and Callum Musgrave however it was a neat tackle by Keelan Graney that saw the ball played quickly up front to Stevie Vaughan that saw it controlled for a neat pass setting up Maslauskas-Nicholson to crash the ball home for 1 : 0 to the Hawks inside 5 minutes. A long clearance from the Tansley keeper saw the defence stranded as a looping header set up a neat Tansley goal and 1 : 1. The Hawks were then on the defence for a short spell until Vaughan turned his man and put the ball past a diving keeper to bring up 2 : 1, following straight on from the restart the Hawks again surged forward as first swale put the ball into the box with the resulting clearance being put straight back into the danger area by Townsend allowing Vaughan to claim his second and take the match into half time at 3 : 1 to the Hawks.

The second half started as the first had finished with strong wing play and resolute defending from the Hawks until Maslauskas-Nicholson went on one of his customary weaving runs before dispatching the ball into the top corner to bring up 4 : 1. From the restart Tansley again pushed forward and were justly rewarded when a deft lob over Webster saw the score 4 : 2. Not to be outdone the fresh legs of Kyran Giles and Callum Boam paid dividends as the right hand side was dominated at the same time as Poole pushed forward on the left to set up a series of goalmouth scrambles until as the game headed to a close Maslauskas-Nicholson again let fly and bought up 5 : 2 but only a series of match winning tackles at the death by Swale, Boam and Frazer kept the winning margin.

Man of the match for his resolute defending went to Aiden Frazer.
