Mytchett's first EVER season will go down in history as a resounding success, if we be honest!

Our expectations at the start of the season were to start life as a new team in Div6 and work towards the top. Some may have said being bumped up 2 leagues to Div4 was lucky, others may have thought differently, but as a new team the team spirit was evident from week one when we demolished Weybridge 17-0!!!! Everybody KNEW from that point things were gonna be good. However, harsh reality then set in on week 2 when we were brought back down to earth by The Standard, losing at home 4-2.

Obviously, highlights of the season in the league have to be the big games against Weybourne, coming from behind to win and draw respectively. The double header against the then unbeaten Plough, where we won both games consecutively. How bout THAT game on the last day against the top-of-the-league Standard(my personal fav)! Seemingly down and out, had to get a result, and we win it in the last minute. Couldn't have happened any better, given the situation. I'm convinced that game was the REAL reason for Smithy hanging up his boots(because I rode him like a pony, and he loved it, back problems obviously).

In the cup, well....... who could forget that wonder goal against Follyhill in the earlier rounds. From all of 55 yards, inside his own box, Griggy smashed a hit-and-hope shot that dipped right under the bar. God, I'd hate to be that keeper, he'll have to live with that for the rest of his life!!!
The cup run was audacious, maybe we did go further than we all first anticipated, but what a ride! The final day was special, for all the guys(especially those in their last season!). Shame about the result, but we all know it wasn't the REAL Mytchett playing, not like we had done all season. Maybe the hype did get to us, but still a fantastic run in our first season.

With promotion to Div3 next season sealed, it remains to be seen who comes back for more next year? The team is unified and has a great bunch of lads, with more expected to join for next seasons challenge. Can we reach Div2 at first attempt, who knows, but then did we think we'd get promoted in our first season???

I'm sure everyone has their own personal highlights of this season, too many to mention(except that amazing goal I scored which was cruelly denied for off-side).
