| MC Racing | 1 |
Probably the most important game in the clubs season ended in heartache as MC Racing lost to a Bottles Reserves team full of energy. The first half was a very even encounter in which MC Racing were playing some neat football and containing the home side and deservedly went into the break at 0-0.
The second half was a different affair though as the away side couldn't cope against the strong winds and the energy of Bottles. After some relentless pressure by the home side the break through was made by a very soft penalty decision. Midfielder Steve Koop was judged to have brought down the opposition striker even though he clearly won the ball. Never the less Bottles dispatched the penalty with keeper Phil O'Rourke almost getting a hand to it.1-0 soon became 2-0 after a series of corners a looping header evaded Nick Christodoulou on the line to loop over his head and make it 2-0. Literally with the last kick of the game Dan McAlpine made the score 2-1 with a great volley from Steve Koop's cross.
Phil O'Rourke
Phil made some tremendous saves to keep the score at a respectable level. Hardly put a foot wrong all game. Only downfall was his goal kicks which weren't helped by the strong winds.
Anthony Koop
Ant had a very solid game at right back, like Phil hardly put a foot wrong and looked very comfortable when the opposition were attacking.
Dave Coates
Dave was kept very busy throughout the game and made a lot of important challenges. Dave was also very strong in the air and looked good after being out so long injured.
Dan McAlpine
Another very good game for Danny Mac, he plays with his heart on his sleeve and he topped it off by scoring a great goal.
James Cox (c)
Mr Versatility had a very good game at left back. Didn't really do much wrong and got forward well when needed. Put in some good tackles and won most of them.
Richard O'Donovan
Rich got forward very well and the opposition defenders found it hard to deal with his pace when attacking. Another strong and solid performance by the right winger.
Steve Koop
Steve was a bit quiet in the first half but did his job well. A much better performance in the second was topped off with setting up the goal for Danny Mac.
Nick Christodoulou
A very good first half performance by the Nick, he battled very well in the middle of the pitch and was constantly looking to start attacks. Nick had a quiet second half but still did his job well as the team were under a lot of pressure.
Nick Tribe
A very much welcome return for the pacey left winger. Nick found it hard to get into the game at times as the play was very direct and the wind was holding the ball up. When given the ball he used it effectively.
Tom Kelly
A very quiet game by Tom's standard, he didn't really have much to feed of throughout the game but did have a few chances to get on the score sheet.
Darren Pitch
Another player who had a quiet game. Same as Tom he didn't have much to feed off and struggled to get into the game. Made some good challenges and worked hard.
