2009-10 Season Review This season turned out to be a good one for Medway 2000 despite the lack of silverware. The season started off well when they got to the final of the pre-season cup competition, where they were beaten by a strong Cliffe Woods Colts team at Chatham Town football ground. In the league they pulled off some good results and ended up with a sixth place finish in division two, their highest ever placing. Had it not been for a large amount of draws in the middle of the season they could have ended a couple of places higher. They got to visit Chatham Town football ground for a second time when they reached the final of the Junior Charity Cup. Playing against the winners of Division One, Aquachain, they matched their opponents for 118 minutes before conceding a dubious offside goal! So although there was no silverware, they can be proud of the season that they had. Medway Narrowly Defeated In Cup Final Medway 2000 were beaten 3-2 in extra time by Aquachain in the Junior Charity Cup Final. With the game all square at 1-1 after 90 minutes and with both teams scoring again in extra-time the match looked to be heading to penalties until a dubious goal two minutes from the end sealed the win for Aquachain. April Review April was a busy month as Medway 2000 played 8 games in total over the month, but they only took 8 points from these games. The wins came against Pentagon and Pegasus and the draws against Scorpions and Pegasus. But it was the narrow defeats against Scorpions, Spartac and Pentagon that look to have all but ended their chances of a top five finish this season. March Review A successful March started and ended with cup games as Medway first saw off Princes Park of division one and then beat fellow division two side Pegasus to reach the final of the Junior Charity Cup. Sandwiched between these two fixtures Medway picked up three points against Anchorians but lost both games in a double header against Cliffe Woods, going down 3-0 both times. As a result they slipped down one place to 8th in division two, although they have games in hand over those team around them. Their current league stats read like this: P14 W6 D4 L4 GD-1 Pts22 New Fixtures Released The last set of fixtures for the 2009/10 season have been released as the season comes to a close First up is a visit to Pentagon on the 25th April followed by the visit of high-flying Horsted to Barnfield on the 2nd May. The following week will see Medway play Aquachain of division one in the Junior Charity Trophy Cup Final at Chatham Town on the 9th. And Medway will bring their season to a close with a home match against Stockbury Athletic on the 16th May. Medway Reach Junior Charity Cup Final Medway made it into the final of the Junior Charity Cup with a 3-2 win over Pegasus in the semi-final. 2 headed goals from Adam Cashford, either side of a Paul Willson penalty put them 3-0 up but they had to endure a nervous final few minutes as Pegasus scored 2 late goals. But they held out and will now face either Aquachain or Teynham Wanderers in the final in May. Click here for a full match report. UPDATE: Medway 2000 will play Aquachain in the final. Aquachain, who are currently top of division one, beat Teynham Wanderers 3-0. Medway To Play Pegasus In Semi-Final Medway have been drawn to play Pegasus in the Junior Charity Cup semi final while Aquachain will play Teynham Wanderers in the other game. Medway will be looking to make their second cup final of the season against their fellow division 2 opponents Double Trouble Medway faced Cliffe Woods in the first of what could be five double header fixtures that they could play this season. They lost both games 3-0, although it could have been worse in the second game as they played the majority of the second half with only ten men. See who was sent off here. Medway Reach Semi Finals Medway made it into the Junior Charity Cup semi finals with a 3-2 win over Princes Park. With the game all square at 2-2 after 90 minutes, it went into extra time and with only two minutes remaining Tony Forster scored the winner to set up a semi final clash against one of the other three teams remaining tin the competition: Aquachain Pegasus Teynham Wanderers February Review Due to the weather and the fixture schedule, Medway 2000 only managed to play one game in February, the penalty kicks win against Rileys Sports in the Junior Charity Cup on the 21st. As other teams managed to get a couple of league games played, it saw Medway overtaken by two teams as they dropped down to 7th position in the league. Yet Another Game Cancelled A lot of overnight rain meant that Medway's home league game against Horsted has been called off, due to an unplayable pitch. This means that so far this year, they have only managed to play three games. So many called off games means that there is a backlog of fixtures and they run the risk of having to play double header games and evening games to get all the matches in before the season ends. January Review The bad weather throughout January meant that Medway only played two games out of a possible five. The snow caused the cancellations of games on the 10th and 17th and yesterday's game against Pentagon was postponed due to a frozen pitch. The two games they played brought them only two points as both games ended in 2-2 draws. They surrendered a two-goal lead to Stockbury and then rescued a point with a last minute goal against Newington Athletic. These dropped points saw them slip down to 5th in the league as they were overtaken by Cliffe Woods Colts. Snow Causes Cancellations Once again the bad weather caused problems this weekend. This means that Medway's cup tie against Rileys Sports was canceled for the second time, having fallen foul of the weather back in December. So it will have to be rescheduled once again... Lucozade Sport Performance League Update #;;2 Having only played one game in the last 4 weeks, Medway slipped down to 37th with 189.33 points, while Martyn Moore slipped down to 69th in the Golden Boot competition. In the new year the league is split into 4 separate divisions of 20 teams each which means that, as it stands, Medway will be in the second league but will start off 4th from bottom of it! December Review The bad weather brought disruption to Medway's league campaign resulting in only one game being played in December. This was the 2-2 draw against Park Lane. So as the year draws to a close Medway can look back at quite a successful season so far. They currently sit in 4th place in the league, having won 5 of their 9 games and drawing, and losing 2 each. Highlight of the season must be reaching the Pre-Season Cup Final at Chatham Town FC's ground. This was the club's first ever cup final, and they where they narrowly lost to Cliffe Woods Also being selected to take part in the Lucozade Sport Performance League has given the club a boost by providing a new kit to be revealed in the new year as well as the opportunity to be trained by top sports scientists. Hopefully the success will continue into 2010... November Review With the postponement of the match against Pentagon, Medway ended up playing four games in November. A fairly successful month saw them pick up 9 points from a possible 12, losing only one game against Newington Village. They now lie in third place in division 2, although they have played a couple more games than some of the teams around them. Their current record is: P8 W5 D1 L2 Despite not playing for a few weeks, Adam Cashford is top scorer on 7 goals followed by Martyn Moore and Sam Jacques on 6 and 5 respectively. Lucozade Sport Performance League Update #;;1 After Medway's good run of form (4 wins in 5 games), they have moved up the Lucozade Sport Performace League to 34th place with a score of 200.50 points. In the Golden Boot competition, Medway's highest place player is Martyn Moore who is in 61st place. The club's leading scorer, Adam Cashford, is in 112th place. In the defensive league, Medway find themselves 44th, conceding an average of 2 goals per game October Review Medway only played three games in October. In the league they registered a win against Anchorians and a draw against Newington Village. They also played their cup final against Cliffe Woods going down 3-1 against a very good team. They currently are in 6th place in division two with 2 wins, a draw and a defeat. Medway Defeated In Cup Final Appearing in the club's first ever cup final, Medway eventually lost 3-1 to a very good Cliffe Woods team, despite taking the lead. The team performed extremely well and should be proud of the way they represented the club. September Review After a good pre-season in which they reached the final of the Pre-Season Cup, Medway had a tough September! In the four games they played they were victorious only once, a 4-1 win away to Bridgewood Seniors on the opening day. They were dumped out of two cup competitions by Park Lane and also lost away to Horsted in the league. Medway Get League Campaign Underway After their successful pre-season, Medway got their league campaign underway with a 4-1 victory over Bridgewood. A hat-trick from Adam Cashford and a goal from Liam Dalton saw them come from behind to win comfortably in their first fixture in Division 2. Medway 2000 Reach Junior Challenge Shield Final Medway reached their first ever cup final courtesy of a win on penalties over Rifleman. Medway took the lead through an own goal and were 8 minutes away from the final when Rifleman equalised, although in the build up to the goal keeper Dean Williams was impeded but the referee failed to award a free-kick. Neither team could find the net again and so with the score locked at 1-1 after 120 minutes, penalty kicks would decide who would make it through to the final. Medway eventually emerged victorious after 16 penalties The Lucozade Sport Performance League Medway 2000 have been chosen as one of the teams to take part in this years LSPL, a unique online virtual league pitting 80 teams against each other around the country. The LSPL works by taking the league results and calculating a LSPL points score. This is worked out based on average points per league game multiplied by 100. The average goal difference is then added to this (or subtracted if negative). The league will be split at Christmas into 4 divisions, and there are prizes to be won for winning or coming runners up in each division, with the top prize being a weekend in the life of a top professional team, including the chance to play 90 minutes at a Barclays Premier League club stadium! Medway into Junior Challenge Shield semi-final Medway's 4-1 win over Stockbury Athletic took them to the top of their group in the Junior Challenge Shield and into the semi finals. After their 3 group games, they finished unbeaten with 2 wins and a draw 7 points, 1 point ahead of Stockbury. UPDATE: Medway will face Rifleman in the semi final, to be played this Sunday at Woodstock, kick-off at 13:30 Pre-Season Tournament v Beausports (2/8/09) After last weekend's 7-a-side tournament, Medway continue their preparation for the 09/10 season this weekend with the first game in the MMSFL Junior Challenge Shield. They face Beausports at the AEI Sports ground, Dunkirk Close, Gravesend on Sunday kicking off at 10.30am and they'll be looking to improve on last weekend's form. One Day 7-a-Side Tournament Results Medway took part in the MMSFL pre-season 7 a side tournament at the weekend and although they didn't make it out of the group stages they can be satisfied with the performances they put in. They were placed in a group along with Sarena (Senior Section), Fountain (Division 2) and Pentagon (Division 1) and with those teams competing in divisions higher than themselves, it looked to be a tough draw for Medway. In the first group game Sarena beat Fountain 4-1 as they set out their intentions early. Medway started their first game against Pentagon strongly and should have taken the lead when Adam Cashford went clean through, but the keeper made a good save from his shot. The first half was dominated by Medway and they should have gone into the break a couple of goals up, but the Pentagon keeper pulled off a number of saves to keep the tie level, including one from Matt Drake's short range header. The second half continued in much the same way, with Medway pressuring and they finally made the breakthrough when Tolga Yusuf was brought down in the penalty area. Paul Willson converted the spot kick to give them a 1-0 win. The next game in the group saw Fountain thrash pentagon 8-1. In Medway's second game they faced Sarena and although their opponents were 4 divisions higher they didn't let this phase them and they took the lead through Adam Cashford. Adam latched onto a through ball from midfield and beat 3 men before firing past the keeper. Medway looked to be holding on to a shock victory but with only a minute and a half left to play Paul Briggs failed to clear following a Sarena attack and suddenly it was 4 versus 2 at the back and the striker made no mistake from 12 yards out. Sarena then won a corner with seconds left to play, and scored the winner as Medway failed to track their players. As Medway kicked off the ref blew up for full time only 5 seconds later. They had come close to beating the group favourites but ended up with nothing. With Jordan Ratcliffe having picked up an injury in that defeat, Medway re-shuffled for their final game against Fountain, knowing that a victory for either side gave them a slim chance of qualification but they'd have to rely on Sarena losing to Pentagon in the group;s final game. Medway should have taken the lead when Martyn Moore was put through by Craig Watkins but he couldn't get his shot away. After the break, Fountain went ahead from a 25 yard strike that beat Dean Williams and bounced in off the crossbar. Fountain then applied pressure as they looked to kill the game off but Medway held firm. Then, with time ticking away, Adam Cashford pressed forward and when he was played in by Paul Dimond his shot across goal was knocked in at the far post by Matt Drake with 2 seconds left of normal time. This draw meant that both teams ended up with 4 points from 3 games and Sarena would go through to the knock-out stages as group winners even though they still had a game to play. Although they failed to make it through, Medway put in some good performances and can be proud of the way they played against 'superior' teams. The 10 man squad for Medway was: Dean Williams Jordan Ratcliffe Paul Briggs Paul Dimond Paul Willson Martyn Moore Matt Drake Tolga Yusuf Craig Watkins Adam Cashford Pre-Season Update - League News As the summer finally arrives, pre-season training ahead of the 2009/10 campaign gets underway on the 12th July at Barnfield. 2 weeks after that is the 7-a-side competition in which Medway have been drawn against Serena Sports, Fountain and Pentagon. During August they will be taking part in the Pre-Season Junior Shield the fixtures for which will be released shortly. And then on the 7th September the league campaign starts. Although they finished 9th in division 3 last year Medway find themselves being promoted up to Division 2 along with those teams that finished above them. One Day 7-a-Side Tournament Medway will be taking part in the MMSFL One Day 7-a-Side Tournament on the 26th July 2009, at Woodstock Park, Sittingbourne. Medway have been drawn into a tough group with Serena Sports who were in the Senior division last season, Fountain from Division 2 and Pentagon from Division 1.

The second trophy was for Manager's Player and this was won by Paul Dimond whose topped the player ratings chart ahead of Paul Briggs 08/09 Season Review 2 games in May brought the 2008-09 season to a close as Medway narrowly lost to Horsted and picked up a point against Stirling in the final game of the season. This meant that Medway finished the league in 9th position on 23 points (three fewer than the previous year) with a record of: P22 W6 D5 L11 F54 A86 There were only 8 points separating the bottom 7 teams which shows how close the division was. High point of the season was the 6-0 victory over Elite '05 and the lowest point being the consecutive defeats by Newington and Cliffe Woods which saw them concede 22 goals. 08/09 Season Update - April Medway's miserable 2009 continued in April as they only picked up one point from 3 games. Sandwiched in the middle of the defeats away from home to Intergills and Spartac Reserves was the 2-2 draw at home against Scorpions Reserves. This has meant that Medway have only scored 9 points this year out of a possible 36 and has seen them slide towards the bottom of the table. With only 2 games to go in May, against Horsted and Stirling 2000, Medway will be hoping to finish the season on a high note. 08/09 Season Update - March Medway 2000 took 4 points from 4 games during March, picking up a win and a draw against Stirling 2000 and Stockbury respectively, and suffering defeats against Scorpions Reserves and Intergills. With 5 games to go this season, Medway will hope to pick up enough points to keep them clear of relegation. 08/09 April & May Fixtures Released The final matches for Medway 2000's season have been released. The run-in starts with the away match against Intergills on Easter Sunday, followed by a home game against Scorpions. On the 26th April they visit Spartac and then welcome Horsted to Barnfield in their penultimate game. Their final match is the away tie against Stirling 2000 at Rainham Rec on the 10th May 08/09 March Fixtures The fixtures for March have been released and it sees Medway play 2 home and 2 away matches. With no game on the 1st, their first match in March is a home tie against rivals Stirling 2000 on the 8th. This is followed by an away game at Stockbury Athletic. Next up is the visit to Barnfield of Intergills and the final game is a visit to Beechings Green to play Scorpions on the 29th. After a miserable February, Medway will be looking to get back on track and take full points from these matches. 08/09 Season Update - February February turned out to be a disastrous month for Medway. From the 4 games played they only managed to gain one point and conceded a staggering 27 goals, scoring only 4 in return. The 13-0 defeat to Cliffe Woods was the worst in the club's history, and although they were unlucky not to get anything from the game against Pegasus, it looks as though promotion is now out of their hands. Intergills Match Postponed Due to the bad weather over the weekend, the home fixture against Intergills was called off after an inpsection of the pitch by the referee. The constant rain on Saturday and overnight had left a lot of surface water as well as numerous large puddles in and around the center circle and with the rain continuing there was no chance that the water could be cleared in time. With Medway having played less games in the league than all but one other team, and with manager Ryan Andrews fearing a fixture backlog, an alternative pitch was sought so that the game could go ahead. Unfortunately other pitches either had a game already scheduled or were themselves unfit to play on. Only one game was played in Division 3 and that saw Pegasus beat Horsted 1-0. 08/09 February Fixtures Released February's fixtures have been released and it sees Medway play 3 games away from Barnfield as they look to climb the league and make a push for promotion. There is no game scheduled for the 1st February but then Medway travel away to Newington Village on the 8th. This is followed by a game against second placed Cliffe Woods Colts on the 15th and then they visit Beechings Green to play Pegasus on the 22nd. Medway then have another week off on the 1st March. With only 9 games remaining after this it looks as though that will be the last break they get before the end of the season. UPDATE: A game has been scheduled for the 1st February away to Sportsman. 08/09 Season Update - January After a prolonged break, Medway resume their season with an away fixture against Horsted this weekend. Having had their 4th January game against Scorpions postponed due to a frozen pitch and no game scheduled for the 11th, this will be Medway's first game since the 3-2 victory over Sportsman on the 21st December. With Horsted currently flying high in 3rd place in Division 3 and having already lost to them in the cup this season, Medway will be looking for a strong performance against a team also pushing for promotion. Last season's league meetings produced one win each and both games were won by a single goal. Medway currently lie in 8th position in Division 3 and have games in hand over the 5 teams directly above them, with only 4 points between them and Pegasus in 4th place. 08/09 Season Update - November The postponed game against Pegasus at the end of the month meant Medway 2000 played only 3 games in November with only one win, the emphatic 6-0 victory against Elite 05 which saw Medway complete the double over them. The defeat against title contenders Spartac Reserves and the shock loss against Stockbury has left Medway 8th in the league with 9 points, but with a couple of games in hand over the teams directly above them. 08/09 Season Update - October Having played 3 games in the league, Medway have won 2 and lost 1 - to league leaders Cliffe Woods - scoring 11 goals in the process. However they have been knocked out of both the Kent Cup (2nd round) and the Junior Cup (1st round). 08/09 Season Underway Medway 2000 kicked off their 2008-09 season with an away tie to Division 1 side Crown in the Junior Cup on Sunday. See the Fixtures & Results pages to see how they got on. 08/09 Fixtures The first fixtures of the new season have been released and it sees Medway kick off with an away tie against Frog & Toad Sports. This is followed by a tough game in the Junior Cup against Crown of Division 1. Two further league matches against Cliffe Woods (H) and Stirling 2000 (A) come either side of a Kent Junior Trophy game at home to unknown New Sheppey Revolution. 08/09 Pre Season Pre-season training is well under way for Medway 2000 as they look towards the start of their Division 3 league campaign at the beginning of September. Having played one friendly against Swallow Rise, in which they were unlucky to not get a result, the team have been training hard to get their fitness back after a long summer break. Medway's final pre-season game will be against Intergills at the Sittingbourne Community College on the 31st August.

2007/08 Awards The 2007/08 award for Player's Player Trophy was won by Dean Williams. Dean gained more then 60% of the total votes and finished a first season with this award. The Manager's Player Award was also won by a newcomer, this time it was Martyn Moore who took home the trophy. 07/08 Season Update 3 After a long season, Medway 2000 finished in 6th place, one position higher than the previous year. A strong start and finish was let down by a very inconsistent middle part of the season. While not high enough for automatic promotion, Medway will have to wait until August to find out what division they will be in for 08/09 as the league looks to be re-shuffled to accommodate new teams and those squads that have pulled out. 07/08 Season Update 2 Medway sit at the top of the division having not yet lost a game but will likely surrender that lead as they have no game on the 21st October, giving a couple of clubs the chance to leapfrog them. They still remain the only team yet to be beaten. P5 W3 D2 L0 The next set of fixtures sees them play Elite 05 at home followed by two games against Stirling 2000, firstly away and then at home. 07/08 Season Update 1 The first 5 games of the season have brought mixed success for Medway 2000. 2 defeats in cup games after extra time were hard to take having played well in both games. In the league. a win against Valley Colts was followed by 2 draws against Elite 05 and Real Rainham. The season so far: P5 W1 D2 L2 Although if you only include games of 90 minutes it looks like this: P5 W1 D4 L0 07/08 Season Underway Medway kicked off their Division 4 campaign with a hard-fought win against Valley Colts.
