About us… the clubs history so far!
2003/04 Season
The Club was created after a few young people asked Wayne Dixon (Club Secretary) and Roy Reid to create a team for them representing Middleton. After a conversation between Roy Reid and Wayne Dixon stating that they never had a football team to play for when they were growing up in Middleton, Wayne Dixon set out to see what he could do. After a few searches on the internet Wayne Dixon realised that he could set a Club up in the name of a former local School (Middleton Park High School). In December 2003, training sessions were organised and the coaching began.
It was hoped that the creation of this club would also reduce the number of children on the streets and get them playing football rather getting involved in crime.
2004/05 Season
Training became so popular that the Club affiliated Three age groups in the first season, they were Under 14‘s, 15‘s and 17‘s Boys. In January 2004, Middleton Park F.C was officially created and affiliated.
2005/06 Season
The second season 2005/06 saw the club expand the boys section to Under 11’s, Under 13’s, Under 15’s and Under 18’s. This season also saw the creation of a new Open Age Men’s Team and a Under 12‘s girls team, which also create our first female coach, Sarah Welbourne. The 2005/06 season also created our first silverware, with the Under 11’s and 13’s boys winning the Charles Rice JFL Supplementary Cups.
2006/07 Season
The third season 2006/07 saw the club lose certain age groups due to lack of players, but we also created new ones at the same time, this lead to the club consisting of boys teams at Under 6’s, Under 8’s, Under 10’s and Under 14‘s. The girls’ side of the club also increased in size with Under 11’s and Under 13’s age groups. Adult football also thrived with Two Open Age Mens’ Saturday teams, One Open Age Sunday Mens’ team and a Women’s team who played on a Sunday. The Club did gain some silverware in 2006/07 winning the Leeds Red Triangle Invitational Leagues Gentlemen’s Award.
2007/08 Season
In Season 2007/08 the club lost and gained age groups yet again. The club ran Boys’ teams at Under 6’s, Under 7’s, Under 9’s and Under 11’s, Girls’ teams at Under 12’s and Under 14’s. Our Open Age section decreased in size to just One Saturday Men’s team playing in the Leeds Red Triangle Invitational League.
2008/09 Season
The season of 2008/09 watched the club grow yet again with the club affiliating teams at Under 7, 9, 10 (mixed sex) and 12’s Boys’ and Girls’ teams at Under 11, 13, 15. The club will also be running a Saturday Men’s team and a Sunday Women’s team.
Following the Seasons above, the Club as continued to develop younger teams and the club as continued to expand further.
“Our club achieved the high honour of Adult Charter Standard in April 2006, with our junior section following at the beginning of 2007/08 season. Charter Standard is a kite mark scheme for football clubs, ran by the Football Association.”
In 2010 the Club became a Community Charter Standard Club, the highest level a club can acheive. The Club won Charter Standard Club of the year in 2010 for the Yorkshire and Humber area.
