In 1991 three Molesey guys decided they would do something to get to know some other blokes in the town. Mike Ray, Richard Cross and Tony Kelly, all members of Molesey Community Church and passionate lovers of football at all levels Man United, Oldham and Wimbledon fans between them! (Mike saw Wimbledon play in the Southern Amateur final and the FA Cup final at Wembley!)
Regular park kickabouts commenced and then they eventually formed into a team and played 11-a-side games on a pitch at the Pavillion Health Club. The club progressed and joined the Southern Area Christian Football League (Mick had been playing for Cobham Church in this league for years). For 4 years the team progressed, grabbing guys who walked past the end of Pemberton Road (the meeting place) at the wrong time on a Saturday lunchtime to make up the numbers, until 1995!
We made our first ever Cup Final and beat the League Champions New Malden 3-2 at Walton & Hersham FC to lift their first ever trophy, the SACFL Challenge Cup. Mick can still tell you every detail about his 2 goals and the celebrations in the Europa afterwards even today, and will given the chance!
Also in 1995 Mark Blythe became a Christian and joined the Church and Club taking on the Admin role and the club started to expand with regular organised football.
In 1998 we expanded into 2 teams. There was only 1 Division of the SACFL (Southern Area Christian Football League) that we played in, so we entered a team into the Kingston & District League. So we called the teams the C Team (Church League) and K Team (Kingston League), we had 2 equal ability sides at that stage.
We had a few new guys joining us and some young lads coming through our Saturday morning youth football, so we arranged about 1 friendly a month for that batch of guys. That team was then called the M Team (The Monthlies).
To confuse matters even more the club and the Church league kept growing and the Church league expanded to have a second division.
So we entered a third team that was playing every week into that Division and called it the S Team (Second Division).
In 2003 we pulled out of the Kingston League to save on all the admin time and meetings we were obliged to attend. At that time the Church League expanded to 3 Divisions so we put the K Team into Div 3 and had teams in all 3 divisions of the SACFL. (C, S & K Teams) and the team playing once a month (M Team).
We downsized to two sides in 2004 when the C Team were relegated from Div 1, so we retired the S Team. The Cs played in Div 2 and the Ks in Div 3 of the SACFL.
In 2005 the S Team was reborn as the Seniors in the new SACFL Veterans Division, so we were back up to 3 teams playing regularly and the Monthlies whenever possible.
The Cs won promotion back to Div 1 and we increased in size to 4 teams playing every week in 2008, ie a team in each division of the SACFL.
In 2009-10 the Club side (a 5th team) played when ever possible in friendlies and on two Saturdays we even had 6 adult teams playing, truly amazing from our humble beginnings in 1991.
