Mountfield Rovers Junior F.C.

The club began life in Mountfield Road in 1969 when a dad, Brian Hackett, saw his sons and some of their pals playing football in the road. He got them organised into a 5-a-side team whose ranks soon swelled to eleven and more. Under the managership of Ken Morrison, himself an experienced footballer, they played friendlies against local scout groups before joining the Reddish Under 11 League, where they won the League and the Cup, as well as providing ten players for the League’s representative side.

Mountfield Rovers were well and truly established, and over the next ten years the club grew to seven teams. After the Reddish League, we enjoyed a spell in the Hazel Grove Junior Football League before joining the Stockport Metro League, which plays host to seven of today’s teams. In 2002 we entered a team in the Altrincham Youth League. Last season this team played in the Under 21 division of that league, having started out at Under 8.

Today Mountfield Rovers is a Bramhall institution, providing over 120 boys and girls with a game of football each week. Over our 35 year history we estimate that about 3,000 players have passed through the Mountfield ranks.

Please note that each team has its own section on the web site and if you wish to contact the teams manager or view maps to the pitches they play on, enter their section of the web site first and these options are available from the side menu.
