Hoping to go one step further in this competition than last years final defeat to Ferndown Town,'The Club' neve looked in danger from start to finish the only question was would they score. A host of chances and poor delivery failed to show their early dominance. Twenty minutes passed before intricate exchanges of passes drew the Linnets defence out allowing Paul Moss to surge across the park and let fly from fully twenty-five yards with such venom the keeper could not keep it out. Rob Smith quickly made it two when set free from a move down the right he outstripped his defender, drew the keeper and slotted cooly into the bottom right hand corner. Ten minutes before half time the Linnets keeper was left dumbfounded again when Lee Moss beat the fullback and hit a powerful cross shot that nestled in the far corner for three. The dominance continued into the second half and the scoring was completed after an hour when Richie Preston finished neatly to keep up his good run in front of goal. The game petered out with Mudeford taking their foot off the pedal somewhat toward the end, and so another cup run begins, and surely some physcological damage inflicted on their opponents who come to Wingfields again next week in the league.
