Goal icks (10/12/2006)

Goal Kicks on righthand side Goal keeper to take. Defender 1 gives him an option to play it short. Only take this option if attackers have dropped right back to half way line. Defender 2 moves out to a central/left position giving another option Only take this option if attackers and defenders are all on the right remember you will have to kick across your own goal so the kick must be accurate. Right mid fielder takes up his position on the right wing just inside his own half. This is who you should be aiming for it is the safe option. Furthest from our goal with space to work with. Central midfielder needs to be about 10 metres away from right midfielder 3 metres near his own goal than him so he can be seen and a ball layed back to him. Left midfielder needs to be available to support his team mates and cover any attack from the opposition. Attacker should take up his position from the midfielders 10metres ahead of them in a right to central position. This should be reversed for the lefthand side the only difference I would say is that if we are going to take a short corner on the left Alex will need to receive the ball wide on the left either by being back defending a corner say and being in a position to receive the ball early or taking the defender away and running back into the space. WHAT DO YOU THINK please let me know.

Next Season (16/01/2007)

Next season There was a meeting last night involving the management teams from both the Cavaliers and Pythons plus the club chairman. The long and short of it was that Kevin will be manager of the under 11side known this year as Newark town Pythons. Subject to us attracting players, we are looking for a squad of 15. We intend to change our name to Newark Town Merlin (open to any better suggestions) Help will be required on match day referee, running the line, nets etc. We have had great support in the passed from our parents so wehope it will continue. I will be offering playing positions to all our existing player, I am not expecting everyone to accept as some have been offered places in Cavaliers which i feel would suit them better. One parent as said his son will leave if we look like we will struggle, which I feel is fare enough, I appreciate his honesty and will not stand in his way, he can go with my blessing. Unfortunately I feel we will struggle the first season yes even to the extent of us not winning a game. But if the players show some enthusiasum and passion I know we can all enjoy it and build for the future. With the good base Dave has built up and hopefully some new signings we could suprise some people. It all depends on the attitude of the players and supporters. My critiria for picking the team in no perticular order. Ability Attending training sessions Team spirit Enthusiasm Willing to lesson
