many thought tony braddock was stupid in trying to revive the dead career of assistant manager/physio ian kirwin when he signed him as his number 2 in early june 2009. To be honest so did the players when he turned up to training with his team tactics written on the back of a fag packet. But nothing would stop this footballing genius from succeeding in making the players progress and improve from week to week. This improvement was shown in the 3-0 win versus Newbury FC in the first friendly. Further improvements in the seconds game were shown as United lost 3-1 and last but not least in the first league game the hardwork on the training pitch was shown to have paid off as the team went down 5-3 to Hayward Rangers. He is well known to be a world class physio as well and uses the common methods of the tribes of Salford who use orange juice to heal cuts !!! Ian was recently quoted as saying "well what i do is what i do...i take a great player and make them average" joking aside. The addition of Ian after coming out of retirement is a strong boost to the United support staff and legendary singer songwriter Fred Carey compared him to Jose Mourinho in a recent article for the Newbury Times....lets hope he is true to Fred's word and proves once and for all he is "The Special One"
