Report

Again with only 10 players Newquay come away with a tremendous result against a strong and determined Plymouth Argyle side Newquay took the lead with a firm header from Jess Longworth from a corner kick on 14 minutes, now Newquay were on top and they took advantage on 25 minutes when Lorena Clavijo lashed in a tremendous strike from fully 25 yards for 2 - 0. This through seemed to bring Plymouth to life and they pushed hard at Newquay gaining control and on 40 minutes were awarded a penalty that Laura Collins in the Newquay goal saved well, this deflated the Plymouth side a little and Newquay went in at the break 2 - 0 in the lead. The second half saw Plymouth change their formation and this caused Newquay to adjust as well , Plymouth now were in control and Newquay had to show all their defensive quality to keep them out after a 20 minute period of Plymouth pressure Newquay got themselves back on track and the game was evenly contested now and then on 70 minutes again from a corner Jess Longworth powered another header in to put Newquay 3 - 0 up and the game beyond Plymouth. Manager Alan Metters said after that he was delighted with the girls this was a tremendous result against a Plymouth side that had really made it a difficult game for us.
