Grassroots football will take centre stage this week as Kick it Out launch their 2010 Weeks of Action.
During their One Game One Community Weeks of Action, football’s equality and inclusion campaign will host three grassroots events aimed at encouraging greater participation in grassroots football.
The events, taking place in Fulham, Leicester and Sheffield, will feature panel discussions, presentations, awards ceremonies and advice on funding, volunteering and running football activities.
One Game Fulham kicks things off at Craven Cottage on 14 October from 6-9pm. The Walkers Stadium is the venue for One Game Leicester on 20 October and One Game Sheffield draws the events to a close at Hillsborough on 27 October.
Further details on the events can be found on the Kick It Out website or on flyers for the events, available to download via the links below (pdf files):
All events are free and refreshments are provided. To book your place contact Kevin Coleman on 020 7684 4884 or at email@example.com.
2010 Weeks of Action
These events are just part of Kick It Out’s 2010 One Game One Community Weeks of Action, which take place from 14-26 October and promise to be the biggest yet.
With over 1,000 activities planned nationwide from park pitches to the Premier League, the Weeks of Action is widely considered sport’s largest equality and community engagement initiative.
Supported by some of the biggest names in football – with the iconic Kick It Out t-shirts featuring heavily – the Weeks of Action also have a major impact on local communities, grassroots football and in schools and education.
The scope and scale of Kick It Out’s work has shifted with the footballing landscape, and matters concerning gender, sexual orientation, religion and disability are now as much a part of the campaign’s remit as race and skin colour were back in 1993.
This is reflected in the Equality Standard, a framework devised for clubs to help with their equality and diversity practices.
