Wanted: grassroots football heroes

Calling all grassroots football heroes – your country needs you!

The four home nation Football Associations are all on the lookout for grassroots football’s unsung heroes – the people without whom the UK’s favourite game just could not happen.

Nominations are open for the 2014 McDonald’s Community Awards which recognise and reward those that keep the grassroots game alive.

This is the chance for those people who work tirelessly for their local club to get the recognition they deserve.

Each of the four home nations has their own categories, but they are all looking for volunteers, coaches or referees – even whole clubs or leagues – who works without reward for the benefit of their local community.

To find out more or to nominate your grassroots football hero, visit mcdonalds.co.uk/awards. Nominations close on 28 March in England and on 26 May in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Everyone who volunteers at grassroots level is an unsung hero. Good to see people being recognised for the work they do.
