Team Selection Process

The selection process for matches is as follows. All children to be eligible for selection for tournaments league and cup matches must have attended the previous training session that week. We currently have 12 players in our squad, however through experience I know this is too many players to be taking to league or cup matches, so I will be taking a maximum of 10 players to each game. Tournaments are usually limited to a squad of 10 by organisers. The team will consist of the strongest 7 players, who will start, the substitutes will rotate on a game to game basis providing they have attended training. This applies to all players including goal keeper. This system allows you to keep a good flow during games and when subs are used they will get a good amount of time on the pitch which will aid their development and keep a balance to the team. It also shows the children how important attending training is. I may choose however to pick players for games if I have a small turnout at training. That would mean if I only have 7 players at training I may choose to take a few more from those who did not attend but I will always start the match with a team picked from those who did attend training. All players will be invited to attend friendly matches and I aim to organise many friendlies as well as our designated league and cup games throughout the season. I will inform all parents of my team selection by text no later than the Thursday before match day.
