Report

Well done lads , a well deserved win , hard earned but the quality came through in the end
and it was worth paying the admission money to witness our third goal .
With Sam and Jamie both missing I decided to go with Carl and Reece at the back and apart from the odd couple of moments of indecision and uncertainty I thought they clicked well together , in fact Carl had probably his best game of the season and both were well supported by Moz and Guy who as usual set the standard with an action packed display
full of energy and commitment and set a captains example in scoring the opening goal .
A lucky second followed with Guy again involved bombing in one of his long throws which they struggled to cope with all game as their defender headed over his own keeper .
We switched off a little and became a little dozey from a corner and they pulled a goal back
with a near post header but then came the killer punch for me which ultimately won us the game.
Some neat passing down the left involving Guy , Ben and Alex resulted in Ellis chasing the ball into the corner and whipping in a fantastic cross which Mets was onto in a flash to head past the keeper - a great goal for us , a sickener for them and just before half time aswell .
With Alex struggling with the pace of the game I felt we needed to freshen things up a bit so
brought on Danny who was immediately involved in the action winning tackles and keeping possession and he added that bit of a spark to our midfield . Both Jonny and Ben were also doing their share and Luke was all over the place getting a foot in when needed and helping Moz out down the right in fact everyone was putting in a shift and contributing to the cause.
We had a bit of a let off as their centre forward turned in the box to curl a shot onto the post but we managed to clear and maintain our two goal lead and to rub salt into their wounds we then went up the other end and as the ball was lifted into the box Mets attempted overhead
scissor kick looped up and over the keeper to drop in off a post and increase our lead to 4-1 .
With Ryan and Craig added to give us some fresh legs we saw the game out well and always looked dangerous on the break in the last fifteen minutes where we found a little more time and space as they pushed forward leaving gaps at the back .
Whilst they did manage to pull another goal back it was a bit of a gift as we really ought to have cleared but I can-t be too critical as the game was won and with five minutes to go things kicked off a little as one or two of their players let frustration get the better of them
and caused a melee where punches were thrown resulting in two of theirs and one of ours sent off .
Things calmed down , the final whistle blew , the game was won 4-2 .

What else can I say lads - well done to you all , an enjoyable season , double winners - with a team that was only put together a couple of weeks before the season started , hasn-t really trained at all throughout the winter and just played from match to match ??
