Derby time!! A game that is always, you would hope, going to mean that little bit more and over the years no matter the difference in ability of either side the fierce local rivalry always makes it a close battle and a hard game for both. To be fair it was actually a good game as well and for the first 25 mins it was a very even and tense affair. Callum’s header at the far post from Darren’s corner woke us up and gave us the spark we needed. Within 5mins it was 2 nil, Robbie through on goal and slotting clinically past the on rushing keeper. This remained the score line at half time and it was a fair reflection on the first 45mins as Lions had played some good football in places. Shammy came out blazing in the 2nd half as was expected, they upped their game and played a lot of nice football but after conceding again with another typical Robbie finish, the game started to turn a little tasty!! or at times down right dirty on their part!!. Despite pulling a goal back and playing well tempers still flared, and as per usual poor Robbie caught the brunt being maimed on 3 separate occasions by dreadful challenges, one a serious career finisher and something that should never be seen on a football field.
On the whole another very resolute Lions performance and it just shows that we are up to whatever style of side is thrown at us, young and fit or just pure raw brute we have the ability and heart to handle it.
Man of the Match was Robbie Crump who’s work rate this season has been phenomenal and he finally got his reward with his two 2 great finishes, In the words of his coach “it was a truly awesome performance from a great little centre forwardâ€.
