Chapel vs Watersfield

Second game into the season and expectations are running higher than ever, a good result the weekend before and playing against a side that achieved very little last season. The word on the street is they've drafted in a new keeper to solve their poor defensive record. Ive played with this keeper earlier in his career and wasn't too worried by the problem that he'd pose our strikers. Although Tom K needed to pull his socks up after his goal to shot ratio in the Amberley game.
The scene was set, last seasons two under achieving sides, face to face on the field of battle…..the winner takes it all. Expect blood sweat and tears and that's just from Richard Solly!!!!!
Watersfield win the toss and put Chapel in to bat, and straight from the kick off penetrate the Watersfield defence with a string of nicely weighted passes eventually resulting in a shot high and wide. The Watersfield keeper was already making his excuses. Obviously running out of ideas he feigned a calf injury after 35 minutes of pressure from the Chapel front line, lucky to go in at half time all square.
Chapel come out at half time disappointed not to be leading, but worse was to come. Watersfield get given a cheap free kick just outside the box……….which the central midfielder struck sweetly with his left foot bending round the Chapel wall,1-0 watersfield.
This was probably the best thing to happen to Chapel….it seemed to wake them up.
Jake Mariner who looked as if he'd spent the evening in a phone box started to get a grip in the midfield and started to link up with his wings and solo front man well, this link up play provided the first goal from Tom K who sweetly turned in the ball at the near post.
The second came from a back post run from Lee B making a nice little slot home, 2-1 Chapel.
Chapel now had control of the game, the crowd were livening up, the cheers, the roars, the air horns all spurred Russell Lowmans Blue and Black army on to another 2 goals from Tom K giving him the first of what Im sure will be many hat-tricks this season.4-2 Chapel.

In short the better team won Dummer!!!!!!!!
