Nova United trains youngsters to play football from the age of 6 through to 18. Over 300 children attend Saturday morning training, with 13 teams playing competitive football on Sundays.
The club is run entirely by volunteers (mainly parents), on a not-for-profit basis.
Our objectives are:
a) to provide facilities for local children to learn how to play and improve their football. We want children to enjoy the sport of football and we regard their safety as an utmost priority; and
b) to maintain the facilities at The Shuker Fields for the enjoyment of Nova, local schools and the local community.
Children can start training from the age of 6. Training takes place on Saturday mornings from September to April, 9.00am to 10.30am.
There is training for each age group. At 9 years of age children may be selected to play for a Nova team. We operate teams from Under 9's to Under 18's. Teams are selected on several criteria to include the child's attendance record, parental involvement in the club, and the child's behaviour, commitment and ability.
Parents are expected to participate as much as possible in the club activities. We need volunteers to run teams, maintain pitches, raise funds for the club, and have fun doing it!
Our simple Code of Conduct can be found in the 'Club Documents' section.
Matches are played home and away on Sundays in the Telford & Wrekin Junior League.
If you want your child to play you can:
a) simply turn up at Shuker Fields on a Saturday morning at 9am (08/09 season training starts 6th September),
b) contact the manager of a team in the age group from the details on the site, or
c) use the 'Contact Us' in the 'More Stuff' section of the Home Page.
In junior football, should all players be given the same amount of time on the pitch during a game, regardless of ability?
Yes, always. Getting kids involved is the most important thing.
Yes, unless it is an important game.
No. Winning is important at all ages, so the best players should play more often.
