The GIs do not let a bit of snow spoil their Saturday's so a car ramble took in the Blue Pig at Wolvey, the Red Lion at Burbage and finally the Lime Kilns on the Watling Street, roaring fires at all three, Abbot and Oakham Inferno at the first stop, Bombardier at the second and finally Pedigree at the canalside pub were the popular choices!
GIs met in the Spittal Brook where a choice of six ales was on offer, slight changes from last season but the guest, a pale but powerful ale from Green King went down well.
On the returne to down our sorrows the Guest went quickly and Hobgoblin followed it.
Some of us called in at the Red Gate on the outskirts of Nuneaton for a nightcap of Old Thumper
Black Horse before the game where Caveman from Kinver Brewery was first choice, a strong 5% light ale but somehow didn't taste strong, quite a rare tick though for most of us. This was followed by Titanic White Star. a well-hopped 4.8% and very tasty. There was also a Sadlers on but did not have any takers.
Decewnt and comfortable pub but very food orientated.
On the way home some of us called at the Hare and Hounds in Kerseley for a drop of Broadside to give us appetite for supper! Good day on the beer front if not the football!
Manor Arms before the game with some Oxford Gold followed by Hobgoblin. On way home stopped off at Horse and Jockey at Walsall Wood for more Hobgoblin then at Red Gate for a couple of Old Thumpers before supper, excellent day out on football and beer front.
Pilkington club had Abbott so better than usual.
Hare and Hounds on the way back for some Broadside, also a Beer Festival so much busier than usual.
