The Gaffer muses...
11 Oct 2006

Back in the Summer of 98 two Bristol University graduates, Mike Cockcroft and Daniel Eames, had a dream! A football team, based in London and made up entirely of Bristol Uni grads!

Starting off in the mid-week astro turf Highbury & Islington league division 4 and with the help of two more ex-Bristol Uni football enthusiasts, David Leam and Gaven Downton, the dream became a reality and so was born...Old Bristolians AFC !!

Cocky, Eamo, Billy and Downtown were joined by the likes of Chawkins, Slim, Rowland, Thompson, the Robinsons, Julesy, Field, Lemon, Morris, Kimchi and many many more and survived the (astro) turf war of the North London leagues for 4 years until the 2002/3 season, when a decision was made to move to the 4th Division of the Surrey South Eastern Combination Intermediate and Junior Football Leagues, a return to Saturday afternoon grass roots football.

We have since won consecutive promotions to the top Division, where we currently are playing. Also, for the 2005/6 season, a Reserve team was started and placed in Divison 6. To facilitate this, we now welcome non-Bristol Uni players, but everyone plays under the name of the Old Boys and for the University badge!
