A severley depleted Congs team took to the pitchagainst Knowsley South reserves to see if they could fair any better than they did against Knowsleys first team last season. Sadly the answer was no as the game went goal crazy.

With no fewer than 7 regulars missing from the squad, the Congs just about managed to scrape a team together and they were mercilessly put to the sword by Knowlsey finding themselves a goal down within the first couple of minutes having not touched the ball.

congs did draw level through and O.G. after Dave Tommo took a gambl;e at the back post forcing the knowsley full back to put in is own net but that was as close as Congs got to Knowsley for the rest of the game. Congs went in at half time 4-2 down after Knowsley fired in 3 rapid goals after the equaliser (all from congs mistakes) with the soitary reply coming from Drakey.

Congs got the score back to 4-3 after a Dave Thommo cross was finely headed in at the back post by "Daz" but then Knowsley stepped up a gear and hit four past the Congs defence.

Killer got his customary goal before Knowsley rounded the game off to leave Congs very deflated.

At times there was some nice passages of play for the Congs but with 4 or the back 5 missing it was always going to be difficult. We still managed to create a few chances though and the performances of Drakey, Killer and Dave Thommo were encouraging.

A week of next week to lick our wounds andhopefully get some players back
