Sat 15 Sep 2007  AFA Cup
Old Lyonians 2XI 3
Old Tenisonians 4

On Saturday 15th September, Old Lyonians Second Team was pitted against Old Tenisonians from the AFC in the AFA Cup.

Despite the warm weather, it proved to be an engaging contest. Tenisononians dominated the start of the match and made the pressure tell after 20 minutes with a long-range effort.

Slowly Lyonians managed to get back into the game and indeed drew level just before half time when Ray Peakes and Laurie Carey combined well to allow the former to score with a well taken effort.

After half time, the tide appeared to have turned, particularly when Carl Petit, fresh on as a substitute scored with his first telling contribution.

However, it was at this point that Tenisonians rallied. They equalised after a mazy dribble from the right flank was calmly slotted home and when Alex Scott hauled down the same player in the box, the subsequent penalty meant Tenisonians now had the upper hand.

When a fourth was added from a corner, the game looked over as a contest but Carey's classy finish from Josh Mastin's through ball ensured that Tenisonians would have to sweat for the final five minutes.

With no further additions to the score, it ended Old Lyonians 3, Old Tenisonians 4.
