After last weeks important win against Felixstowe Utd we faced another tough encounter with fellow strugglers Cranes and started in fine style when in the first minute Sam Bobby sent in a great cross for Dave Lampshire to get across the near post and plant his header into the net. Cranes came back into the game and it was fairly even with neither side dominating the play. Half time arrived with our lead intact and with the boys in a determined mood to see the game out. The second half belonged to Dave Lampshire who finished with an impressive perfect hat trick, head, left foot and right foot, not bad for someone who said he was a centre half when he came to the club at the beginning of the season. He has improved as his confidence has risen and has got better as the season has gone on and has been a handful to several defences. As with the away game we gave away a soft penalty which gave Cranes a sniff and when they got a second it appeared we might let the three points slip but we held on to record back to back wins and three valuable points. This sees us on 29 points with three games to go and a far better goal difference than anyone else in the bottom six so although not mathematically safe we have gone a long way to saving our senior status. With two out of the three games at home it would be nice to finish with a flourish but we cannot take anything for granted and we still need to apply ourselves starting at Felixstowe Saturday week.
